C28: Thanksgiving

I knocked on the door and a few seconds later, it opened.

"It was about time!" Zoe said before kissing me quickly. "Let's go, they're waiting for us." She said. She pulled me by my arm and made our way inside Zoe's house.

"Zack! It's good to see you, it's been a long time. Look at you, you got taller!" Claire said greeting me. Zoe and I have been studying for the SATs and I couldn't make it to Daniel's birthday so I haven't seen them in a long time.

"You know I wanted to visit but the SATs and football have been keeping me busy." I said as she hugged me.

"It's alright. I know how important the SATs are for you guys and how much you love football so it's okay." She said smiling. Daniel walked down the stairs.

"Zack, how are you?" He said shaking my hand.

"Very good. I'm sorry I didn't make it to your birthday, sir." I said. I know how much he hates it when I call him 'sir'. It makes him feel old.

"What did I tell you about calling me sir?" He asked raising his arms into the air.

"I was joking Daniel." I laughed.

"You better be." He replied laughing. "Well, shall we begin our dinner?" Daniel added.

"Wait, our guest hasn't arrived yet." Claire said.

"What guest Ma?" Zoe asked confused.

"I MAY have invited Blake to come over and have diner with us." Claire said sounding scared to see Zoe's reaction.

"Blake Ma?! Ma, cómo pudiste?! Por qué lo invitaste! Tú sabes nuestra historia y lo que me hizo! Te lo dije hace unos días atrás! Esta vez sí que cruzaste la línea Mamá!" She screamed furious. I have no idea what she just said and I'm not even going to ask.

"He's going through a rough time with his parents' divorce Zoe. Show some mercy." Claire replied calmly.

"Mercy Ma? If he didn't show mercy to me when he had sex with that slut why should I show mercy AND let him into this house, MY HOME!" Zoe replied screaming.

"Zoe! Watch your words!" Daniel raised his voice.

"You want me to have a good thanksgiving diner with him here, fine. I'll do it for you guys and for our family but don't expect a smiling Zoe." Zoe replied.

"Alright. But watch what your language." Daniel said more calmly now.

"Okay." She replied right after the doorbell rang.

"I'm going to go upatairs for a few minutes. I need to process this. Can Zack come with me?" She asked.

"Yes. Go. We'll wait for you guys here." Claire answered.

We started going up the stairs.

"Hey! Leave the door open." Daniel said as we finished going up the stairs. Zoe made a thumbs-up and we walked inside her room.

Z O E 'S P O V

"Wow. They were actually worried about you trying something now that we're alone in your room." He said trying to light up the mood.

"Actually... they were worried about YOUR horny ass trying something now that we're alone." I answered chuckling.

"Oh god. You told them already?" He asked scared.

"No Zack. Our first time was just 2 days ago." I said laughing.

"That would've been really awkward." He said sitting down next to me.

"Are you regretting it?" I asked worried.

"God no! It was amazing and beautiful. I would never regret it." He said putting his hands on my thighs.

"I love you. You know that right?" I said smiling.

"Yeah. I knew that." He said chuckling.

"Asshole." I said standing up pretending to be mad.

"I'm kidding! I'm kidding!" He said quickly as he laughed and stood up from my bed to take my hand. I just laughed in response. We kissed. I love him so much. I couldn't be happier right now, despite Blake and all that drama. I finally feel complete. I feel like my life and everything in it is complete.

"I love you." He said once we pulled away.

"I love you too." I said smiling.

"Knock knock." My mom said before I turned around.

"We'll be down in a second." I said. She smiled in reponse and with that, she left.

"Time to go back to reality." Zack said.

"Do we have to?" I whinned.

"Yes. We have to. Your ex-boyfriend is waiting for us downstairs to have diner with us, remember?" He said pretending to be really excited.

"I'm really sorry about that. I swear I had no idea, Zack." I said holding his hands.

"It's not ypur fault. I mean, by your reaction could tell you really didn't know. You went insane." He said laughing.

"Yeah well, sometimes mom just goes too far." I confessed.

"Cut her some slack Zo. She just tries to help... Everyone." He said chuckling at the end.

"Yeah that's the problem." I said annoyed.

"It's Thanksgiving Zoe. Our first Thanksgiving. Let's try and enjoy it okay?" He said smiling.

"Yeah, alright. Let's go downstairs. I'm getting hungry." I said pulling him by his arm down the stairs.

"Zoe." Blake said standing up from one of the sofas. "May I say, you look beautiful as always." He said looking at my royal blue dress that ended right above my knees.

"Yeah, whatever. I'm hungry can we eat already?" I asked coldly. My mom glared at me and mouthed 'behave'.

Blake just stood there, without saying a word. He looked completely different. Not physically because, I have to admit, he looked as handsome as always, but just different in how he acted. He seemed empty, emotionless and just... depressed and when he looked at me I feel like I caught a glimpse of the Blake Henderson I used to know.

"Yes, diner is ready and served." My dad said signaling us all to sit.

My mom sat in one end of the table while my dad sat in the other end of the table. I sat beside my mother and Zack sat by my side. Blake sat in front of me and I could feel him examining my every detail. How he devoured me with his sight like he always did. Which made me get to a horrible conclusion: I have no idea what I feel now.

A/N: hey guys!!!! So I know it's been a few days since I last posted but I guess I just needed a few days to clear my mind since I've been going through a lot. Anyways, I'm glad that I'm back writing and everything. It's another unedited chapter. I'm sorry for leaving you guys in a little cliffhanger 😬 from now on I think I'll divide the chapters into the seasons of the year to make the plot go faster.
