Zack's POV
"Who are you and why are you with my girlfriend?" said the weird guy. I think his name was Marcus.
Great. I find a cute girl that seems smart, caring and unique and since I have such bad luck, she has a boyfriend. Just... Great.
"Who is he babe?" said Marcus.
Finally, she speaks up when she notices my confused face.
"Okay, first of all, don't call me 'babe'. Second, we are nothing. We are just best friends." she said annoyed and pretty mad.
"I told you I liked Latinas." I reminded her with a smirk plastered upon my face. She blushed a light pink. She went back to argue with Marcus.
"Oh so now you're denying our relationship! That's how it's going to be?!" he said screaming. Man... I really don't like this guy.
"Marcus, just cut it off or I swear I'll kick the little excuse you have for an ass." she said with a spicy tone. Damn, this girl's amazing.
"Ouchhh." I said suddenly. "I think I'm gonna go."
"No. Stay." she said pointing at me more calmy now. "You! Just tell him the truth." she said to Marcus.
"Okay, okay." he said throwing his hands in the air in surrender. "I'm sorry man. I'm her best friend. I'm just protective over her. She's like my little sister."
"You were born two months before I was born Marc." she laughed.
"Don't worry man, I wouldn't hurt her. Plus, we just met." I said. She smiled when she heard what I just said. Damn, her smile can light up a whole room. She's beautiful even when she's not trying to.
"I'm Zack Andrews." I extended my hand to shake his.
"I'm Marcus Ramirez." he shook my hand firmly.
ZOE'S POV
Marc introduced himself. "I'm Marcus Ramirez, but you can call me Marc."
Zack seemed relieved when Marcus said we're just friends. I think he likes me. Oh come on Zoe! He doesn't! He's going to play you! Just like Blake did. First, the smirk, then, the smile. You fell for it all over again, Zoe. All. Over. Again.
Marcus interrupted my thoughts.
"Did you get your schedule and your cabin?" he asked.
"No. Zack was going to help me with that. Right Zack?" I asked quickly.
"Of course!" he said excited. "Let's go ask a counselor for the cabin and the schedule, there's one over there." Zack said. I agreed. We talked to the counselor and she gave me the keys to the cabin and my schedule.
"I got the red cabin." I said.
"I got the black cabin." he said. "I'll walk you to your cabin so you can settle in." he talked again. I nodded, then we started walking, following the wooden signs that could guide us through the whole camp. Zack insisted on carrying my bags.
"We have a Welcome Bonfire!" I said excited while I saw the calendar of the activities we would have through the month starting with today's bonfire. "I've always wanted to be in a bonfire. You know, eat marshmallows and share stories and laugh and just... enjoy life."
"What do you mean?" Zack said frowning.
"I just.." I took a deep breath." I never have the chance. My parents are rich and everything but they never give me any attention. It kinda hurts some times."
"Wow. You shouldn't be sad now. You are finally going to a bonfire, and you'll meet new people. I guess camp is opening some doors for you so you'll enjoy life."
He said. This boy is really something. He always knows exactly what to say.
