When Two Worlds Collide

Chapter 6

**Carter's POV**

"I can't wait to see you tomorrow"

"I know. We're headed to the airport now. I should be home by tomorrow morning"

I smiled "I love you, Ryan"

"I love you, more, Carter"

I hung up from Ryan and got ready for the day. My ribs are healing nicely and I'm able to work again. However, since I'm only on light duty I'm not going back to work until next school year. Ryan and I put an offer in on a house and are waiting to hear back.

"It's been nice being able to spend two weeks with you" my mom said

"I know. It's been fun."

"Well, why don't we go to the grocery store and get some food and I'll help you make Ryan a special dinner tomorrow"

"That sounds like a great idea"

My mom and I drove to the store in my new truck.

"I like this truck" my mom said

"Me too. I've always wanted a truck"

"I know you have. I'm glad your finally getting everything you deserve"

I smiled as we pulled up to the store. My mom got a cart and we began to walk around

"Hey, Carter?"

I turned around and couldn't believe who was standing in front of me "K-kyle? W-w-what are you doing here?"

**Ryan's POV**

This plane ride is one of the longest I've ever been on. The layovers are unreal.

"Only one more hour then we'll be on a flight home" Vinny said sitting next to me

"I feel like we've spent more time in airports than actual planes this flight home"

"I know what you mean. I know this tour was only two weeks, but I miss my bed"

"I miss my girlfriend"

"Carter's friend, Tayler and I have been texting since I met her at your place"

"Really? Do you like her?"

Vinny shrugged "She's nice. I don't see a relationship anytime soon, but you never know what could happen"

"True, who thought that I'd be marrying a girl who ran over me with her cart at a grocery store"

Vinny laughed "very true"

**Carter's POV**

I was frozen in fear. I couldn't even hear him respond. My mind is going a thousand miles a minute.

"Can I talk to you alone?" He asked

I followed Kyle outside as my mom finished the shopping

"Make it quick"

"I just wanted to say I was sorry for everything. Maybe we can go to dinner and we can talk things over?" Kyle said nervously

This is the first time I've seen him since I called off our wedding.

"No"

"No? Come on, Carter. We can work this out."

"No we can't, and even if we could I don't want to"

"Why can't we, Carter? I truly love you always have"

"It doesn't matter why we can't. I don't want you in my life, and I swear if you ever try to speak to me again I will call the cops myself" I turned on my heels and finished shopping with my mom. Hopefully Ryan coming home will be the perfect distraction from this.
