When Two Worlds Collide

Chapter 27

**Carter's POV**

The wedding was about 3 weeks ago and Ryan and I leave for our honeymoon in two weeks.

"Don't you have a sub this afternoon?" My new associate Katie asked as our kids were at recess

"I do. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon but I'll make sure you and Tayler are all set before I go"

"Ok, sounds like a plan"

After I finished recess we took our kids back in to finish our lessons for the day.

"Ok, so with the afternoon class same stuff we did this morning. If you need anything just text me, and I'll try to come back before the afternoon class leaves"

"Ok, thanks for everything Carter. Good luck" Tayler said

I gathered my stuff and drove to the doctors office. I signed in and waited for them to call my name.

"Carter McKinney"

I walked back into a cold little room. I had some blood work done a few weeks ago and I need the results so we can get the baby process started in a few months.

"Hi, Carter how are you?" The doctor asked

"I'm fine. Thanks"

"So the plan is to freeze your eggs right?"

"Yes, that's what I was wanting"

"Ok, we can still do that but we'll have to wait a few months"

"Ok, may I ask why?"

"Well, it'll give you and your boyfriend some time to talk it over but I do have some news"

"Oh no. Is it bad?"

"No, it's actually good. After I went over your blood work I have to run a pregnancy test just to be sure and yours came back positive"

I laughed probably more in shock than anything "are you serious?" I asked

"Yes, I don't know how far along you are but I can find out through an ultrasound"

"I've had zero symptoms though"

"Some women don't. I want you to get a ultrasound today so I can see how the baby is developing and if all is well I'm almost positive you and carry this baby full term"

"This is insane. I thought I couldn't carry children"

"Women's bodies are amazing, and sometimes things change."

"When can I get my ultrasound?"

"We already have a room ready for you"

I walked into the room and laid on the table

"Can you lift up your shirt please?"

I lifted up my shirt and the doctor put some cold gel on my stomach

"We're measuring at about 15 weeks"

"Wow"

The doctor pointed out the head and arms and legs of the baby but it just looked like some kind of alien to me.

"Here's some pictures. Please make a follow up appointment so we can continue to make sure this baby is ok"

I nodded and cleaned the gel off my stomach. I made an appointment then I drove home.

"Hey baby how was your day?" Ryan asked as he played his video game in the living room

"Good. The doctor said we should be good to go in a few months"

"Awesome, glad the plan has come together"
