When Two Worlds Collide

Chapter 13

**Carter's POV**

Ryan and his band are playing Warped Tour all summer so he left yesterday to start that.

"Are you going to see Ryan on tour?" Jamie asked

"I don't know. I have to get everything ready for the new school year and I have wedding stuff to do"

"I get that, but you know it doesn't hurt to go see him"

"I'm aware of that Jamie. I just-can you stir this for me?"

Jamie and I decided to make some pancakes for breakfast, but the smell of the batter is turning my stomach

"Are you ok?"

"Yes. Just feeling a little sick"

"Are you getting sick?"

"I don't know. I just have a weak stomach to begin with"

Jamie nodded "is your period late?"

"What!? No! Why?"

"I just thought- when was the last time you and Ryan you know"

"Jamie"

"Carter" Jamie sighed "You told me you and Ryan aren't exactly careful"

"Can we not talk about this. Just because I feel sick does not mean I'm pregnant or could be"

Jamie finished cooking for me and we ate in complete silence

"I can't have kids" I told her

"What? Why?"

"I got pregnant in college and I had a miscarriage. The doctors said it would take a miracle for me to carry a child and deliver it"

"Carter, I'm sorry I had no idea"

"It's ok. Ryan hasn't even known for that long. I don't like to tell people"

"So, what are you and Ryan going to do?"

"What do you mean?"

"Are you going to adopt or?"

"We probably won't even have kids. I don't think Ryan wants them"

"You might want to bring it up and talk about it before the wedding though"

"You're right. I just don't know what to say"

"You'll think of something, but until then let's talk about the center pieces!!"

**Ryan's POV**

We went out to eat after our show today since we had extra time.

We got a table right next to this couple with a new baby.

"Ryan!" Vinny said waving his hand in front of my face

"What?"

"Are you gonna order your drink?"

"Oh, uh, water please"

"Why are you so distracted?"

"I'm not. I was just looking at the baby"

"Do you and Carter plan on having kids?"

"We haven't really thought about it. We have talked about it before, but we'll see"

"I for one don't ever want kids. The whole idea of being pregnant terrifies me" Gaia said

"Same, and babies are just crying poop machines" Kylie added

"They aren't all bad. I mean you get to raise a human who is half you half of the love of your life. A baby is a great thing just not a crying poop machine" I snapped

"Sorry Ryan. I didn't mean to offend you" Kylie said

I just took a sip of my water. I didn't even know I wanted a baby. Do I want a baby? I don't even like kids. Do I??
