Damien was unfortunately, back at school. He walked into first period with a blue colored cast attached to his left arm. The bruise on his eye was almost completely faded, and his busted lip was starting to heal up. Whoever jumped him, got him good.
Beth was forced to work on this group project by herself, but of course, with the help of Ethan and I. Obviously, we want to help our best friend out, but it just means more time with her.
"Presenting time. Damien, I know you weren't here, but you're still going to have to present up in front with Beth," Mrs. Stro explained to Damien.
Damien nodded his head. The first to present are going to be Beth and Damien.
The both of them walked up to the front of the class and began to read off the information off their google slides about the novel, The Pearl.
"In the book... The Pearl, S-steinback displays how social oppression makes it hard to change your status," Damien read off the information, obviously confused, not knowing any of this.
After a good 5 minutes, they finally finished with their not so good presentation.
"Any questions, class?" Mrs. Stro asked the class as Damien and Beth stood up in the front.
A guy who sat up front immediately shot up his hand. Damien nodded, signaling him to ask the question.
"How'd you get so hurt?" The guy asked in concern.
Mrs. Stro butted in, "That's irrelev-"
He interrupted the teacher and kept going, "Because, there's no way you got jumped at a gas station in the middle of the night. First, there's security cameras, that you could look back on. How come you haven't contacted the police? Second, someone must've been there to defend you... Like the gas station worker, or someone filling their tank."
God damn, who is this kid, and why does he care so much?
Damien's face went red and he began to stutter, "I-I..."
Beth glanced at Damien and stepped up to help him, "He got jumped, leave him alone. It's none of your business."
"No more. Beth and Damien, thanks for the presentation," Mrs. Stro pointed at their seats in the back, urging them to sit back down.
"You have the paint, right?" I muttered to Ethan as I carefully watched Damien and Beth walk back to their seats.
Ethan nodded, "Round 2."

Lunch time. Also, time to finish the second part of our mission.
Ethan and I scanned the lunch room to make sure Damien was occupied.
Ethan grunted as we both noticed at the same time, Damien was quite occupied with Beth. This just makes me want to do it even more, even though I know I shouldn't.
Ethan elbowed my side, signaling it was time.
The both of us slyly scanned the lunch room for no curiosity coming from anyone. Then, casually walked out of the cafeteria.
"How many buckets?" I asked Ethan as we made our way to the school parking lot.
"Three," He replied fast, opening the double doors to exit the school.
We passed by cars, even our own, until we found the one we want. The old raggedy red mustang that belongs to the one and only Damien.
Ethan set his backpack onto the parking lot floor as I investigated to see if there was any sight of anyone here.
"We're clear," I said and squatted down to retrieve the buckets of paint from Ethan's bag.
I pulled out each can one by one, all three of them. I grabbed the screwdriver hidden in my front pocket to open up the buckets. Aggressively, I banged the screwdriver against the side of the can, and a splash of bright pink paint landed upon my white vans.
"Fuck," I muttered.
I looked up at Ethan in my squatting position.
"Take it off, hurry!" Ethan whisper shouted.
"W-where do I put it? I can't go the rest of the school day without a shoe," I nervously stuttered.
"Whatever, just hide it in your bag," Ethan hit my shoulder.
Quickly, I took off my shoe placed on my right foot, and stuck it inside my bag.
"Hurry, up, we need to finish this," Ethan demanded.
Ethan and I picked up the two cans of bright pink paint and unevenly dumped it onto Damien's car. I harshly covered the front hood, and Ethan took care of the back.
We watched as the obnoxious paint color trickled down the sides of the window, and down onto the tire and the rims.
I picked up the last can placed on the floor while Ethan pulled out the paintbrush in his front pocket.
Ethan dipped the tip of the brush into the black liquid and began to write on the front hood of Damien's car.
'Steal'. I read as Ethan finished writing the statement.
Damien stole her from me. Completely snatched her from my grip, so we'll steal him from his happiness.
I checked the time and realized we had 3 minutes until lunch was over.
"Shit," I said under my breath.
Quickly, Ethan and I took the paint cans, brush, and raced to the dumpster in the parking lot. We threw all the evidence in the garbage and sighed.
Ethan and I scanned each other making sure no paint covered us.
"Only my shoes," I said as we finished checking ourselves.
Ethan scratched the back of his head, "J-just don't take that out at all today. Make sure no one sees it, or we're fucked."
"Beep," The bell signaling for the next period to start rang.
Ethan and I fast walked to our next class, that wasn't with each other.
Before we split apart, to our next class, Ethan and I glanced at each other nodded as people passed us not knowing what we just did.
Then, I walked off with only one shoe on.
