"Damien is stable enough for visitors," The doctor informed me, as I've been waiting outside his hospital room for hours.
I've been here since 4 AM. I have school in an hour, but I had to see if Damien was okay.
Quickly, I rose up from the rusty old waiting room chair and scurried into Damien's room.
Damien's face lightened up like a bulb when his eyes connected with mine, but that was the only thing that I could look on him that didn't worry me. Everything else about him was dark and scary because of him getting jumped last night.
Both of his eyes were purple and swollen. He had a chipped tooth, but the doctors already repaired that. He was covered in bruises and cuts all over him. Luckily, there were no broken bones or fractures.
I called the police right when Damien mysteriously hung up on me. The last thing I heard was Damien shouting out at the jumpers that he was on the phone with the police and then everything went blank.
I wished to god my assumptions were wrong. I assumed Damien got jumped, but I was hoping that maybe his phone died or something, but I unfortunately had to be correct.
"How are you?" I asked with a worried smile and rubbed the bandage wrapped around his head.
Damien smirked with his swollen bottom lip busting out, "Could be better, I guess."
I sighed, "Who would do something like this?"
"I-i don't know. I don't deserve this," Damien whispered.
I placed my hand on top of his, "No one does. The people that did this will fucking pay for it. Actions have consequences."
My eyes scanned the hospital room surrounding me and absorbing it's bleach scent and blank walls. Until my eyes immediately noticed the dozen of roses placed on the table where his dirty dishes from when he ate his breakfast were.
I smile and raised a brow, "Aw, who gave you these?" I rose up from the hospital seat and walked up to the red roses.
Damien furrowed a brow, confused, when I looked back at him.
There was a small white note attached to the bouquet that read 'Mady'. Damien has never mentioned a Mady before.
"Who's Mandy?" I asked.
Damien shook his head, "I have no idea."
I chuckled, "Well, she gave you some roses." I flipped the back of the note card over and I felt the heat of confusion hit me. "For my only love. I wish you nothing but healing. I love you my Damien," I read it all out loud.
I turned around with a 'need to explain something?' expression plastered on my face.
"I'm just as confused as you are, Beth. I don't even know a Mady," Damien said.
I scoffed, "I don't care if someone wants to send you flowers, but why is this note so... lovey-dovey. And, you're lying to me, that's what's making me mad."
Damien's eyes widened, "On god, Beth, I don't know who Mady is. I just saw those flowers the same time you did."
I rolled my eyes.
