SEVERAL DAYS LATER...

Victoria's POV:

It's been two weeks sinse Marcus has been living with me. Two weeks since he was discharged from the hospital, and I've become so close to him. It's hard not to act on the desire that I have for him especially after I had a sample of those scrumptious lips that have the power to evaporate any anger or frustration away. It's better this way though; it safeguards my heart from potential hurt. He has a girlfriend out there somewhere, and I will respect that. We have cultivated a good friendship and have grown closer every passing day. He's been taking the medicine the doctor had given him on the day that Marcus had left the hospital with me. The Doctor's troubling words echo in my head: 'I recommend these combinations of medicine for the patient. It's important to note that while medication may improve symptoms, it may not return the patient back to exactly what they were like before the onset of the amnesia.'

I'm not very sure if the medication has been helping with his memories of his past, but Marcus no longer has trouble remembering gadgets of technology, TV programmes and other basic things. So that's good progress, I guess. Although I am very happy for him, now that his mind is starting to heal, it also means that he could get his memory back possibly in a few months from now, out of 'spontaneous recovery' (according to the doctor), and Marcus would have to leave and carry on with the life he had forgotton. The thought unnerves me.

"Victoria, you alright?" Marcus asked, sitting down next to me on the same bench that I was pondering on. We were at the local park looking after Alexis' six year old niece, while she was at work. Thankfully, Alexis is living back in her own apartment now that the insurance company took care of the damages.

I gave Marcus an impassive look. "Yes, I'm fine." I replied. He gave me an unconvinced look in return.

"Are you sure? That frown that was on your face says otherwise," he pressed, concern evident in his eyes. I gave him a weak smile to ease his worries.

"Nothing to worry about, I was just thinking about something." I scanned the park to see what Anne Marie (Alexis' niece), was doing. I recognised her familiar blonde hair that was up in a cute pony tail, disappear down one of those tunnel slides in the play area. "I think Anne's been a bit neglected. I'm going to go push her on the swings, she hasn't been on them yet." I stood up and started walking in the direction where Anne Marie disappeared to.

One hour later, as day started to fade, and night was soon to take over, we decided that our time at Wood-berry park was over. In fact, we were the only ones left in the park. It was the late March and it was slightly cold out. Anne Marie sulked and complained but I didn't give in to her protests. As beautiful and full of life this park is during the day, it is completely different when night falls. I am responsible for her and I will not be a push over like her aunty is. Anne Marie has Alexis wrapped around her tiny little fingers due to those adorable grey-blue eyes of hers.

Marcus crouched down to Anne Marie's level. "Don't be upset Anne. We can get some ice cream on the way home." She instantly beamed at Marcus' offer. I rolled my eyes. (So much for not spoiling her).

We made it through the gates of the park, Anne Marie on Marcus' shoulders, who was walking side by side with me. I grinned widely at the sight of those two. Marcus is really good with kids, he has a real soft spot for them.

"WAIT!" Anne Marie yelled. We instantly stopped it our tracks.

"What is it Marie?" I asked, panic and concern soaked in my voice.

"I forgot my book bag in the park! I need it for school." She replied. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes again. Kids are so dramatic--maybe it's a trait that runs through her family, because Alexis is the biggest drama queen I know.
