Theresa was hurt. Completely, utterly broken. Into thousands of pieces.
She had too much emotions all at the same time. Sadness, anger, guilt. You name a negative emotion, she had it.
For three days, she didn't go out of her room. Theresa lied to everyone and said she had a cold. Jane didn't believe her, and spoke with her until Theresa finally told her what was going on. Well, most of it. Not the part about Sofia being one of her best friends and that was why it was hurting her so much, but the part about her feelings.
Theresa didn't tell her she loved Sirius. She couldn't even admit it to herself, so even less to Jane.
She told her she was... Disappointed he was looking somewhere else when he knew she would do anything for him. Jane believed her, since Theresa was known for her big pride, and spent days with her, bitching after Sirius and Sofia. It wasn't right, Theresa knew it, but she didn't care. She was feeling better after.
Then, when she felt ready, Theresa re-borned from her ashes.
Theresa had lost the control, and it wasn't a good thing. Control helped her to stay sane. Being an Amazon was giving her a power, a way to control the students. Being her, Theresa Greenburg, was giving her control. Yes, lots of people didn't like her, but at least, everyone at the school knew who she was, and that was power too.
But when did she have no control?
When she was with Sirius.
Theresa couldn't help it. She never planned it. She never thought it would happen. But it happened.
She fell in love.
Tess had no control on her feelings. The more she wanted to hate Sirius, the more she was feeling attached to him. The more she was trying to avoid him, the more she was coming back to him. The more she was trying to not think about him, the more he was present in her head.
Yet, Theresa was too proud to admit it.
So, for the next few days, she acted like she didn't care. The young girl wasn't looking when Sofia and Sirius were together, and she didn't spend as much time with Sirius than she used to do. It was hard, but it was capital. Not only to her ego, but to her heart too.
But at the second she felt like she could handle it, she tried to have the life she had before. So Theresa sat at the Gryffindor table, at dinner.
"Hi Theresa, it has been a while", James grinned when he saw the blonde girl in front of him.
"I know, but I've been so busy", Theresa lied, sitting on the bench. "I didn't have the time to see you. Where's Sirius?"
"In the dorm," Remus answered. "The poor bloke realised he had seventy-five galleons missing."
Theresa put down the fork full of food she was about to eat, her heart racing so quickly she was surprised she didn't fell unconscious.
"Seventy-five?" Theresa asked, her blue greyish eyes wide-open. It was hard to not run away, but, without knowing how, Theresa succeeded. "That's a lot! He's sure?"
"Unfortunately, yes, he's sure", James said. "He had three hundred galleons in our dormitory. He has now 225. And he didn't use it."
"Does he have an idea about who stole it? Or you, you've got an idea?" Theresa asked, not touching her food anymore."He doesn't", Remus began. "But it's probably a Gryffindor. Or someone he brought back to our dormitory after too much alcohol. It could be lots of people, and we've got no way to find out."
James was about to say something, but quickly closed his mouth again. It was pretty clear he wanted to say something. He had suspiscions about who it was, it was obvious. And Theresa had to know who he was suspecting.
The young girl knew she should have listened to the angel in her head, and never steal that money.
But who knows what would have happen to Jordan if she hadn't sent it.
"Potter?" Theresa asked, trying to hide the quiverness of her voice. "You have an idea about who did this?"
Remus and Peter turned around to face him, frowns on both their faces. It was pretty clear they didn't know at all what was James thinking about the situation.
"I think," James began, eating his eggs. "That the Amazons would have the ways to come into our dormitory without us knowing."
Theresa raised her eyebrows, trying to look detached. But her heart was beating quicker in her chest, tumping so hard against her rib cage she was scared the three boys would ear it.
"Why would the Amazons steal Sirius' money? They're a pranking group, not a criminal group."
"We all know we're the Amazons' favourites victims, since they obviously know that we're better at pranking than them," James began.
Theresa fought hard to keep a poker face on. She wanted to laugh and to punch him in the face at the same time, but her face was showing none of it, luckily for her. If it was Elizabeth or Sofia in the situation she was in, they would have flinched. Their talents of actresses weren't as good as Holland's and Theresa's.
"So I wouldn't be surprise they stole his money to scare the heck out of him, before they'd give it back to him in the most unpredictable way possible", James shrugged.
If only, Theresa thought.
If only she could just give the money back! But it was too late, of course, since she had sent everything to her brother.
"Maybe", Theresa agreed. "But how did they do? Someone would have notice them, no?"
"Theresa, no one knows how they're doing... everything they're doing. No one ever saw them, nor heard them! No teachers, no ghosts, no students, no one did! They snuck an Acromentula in our dorm last year, a dragon in our common room, they charmed all my clothes so I couldn't take them off, and that's only to name a few. They did lots of things in the Gryffindor Tower!"
Theresa pretended to think, furrowing her blonde eyebrows. She twisted the bracelet on her left arm, and stared at James, with an interrogative look.
"Have they done anything to the girl's dormitory?" she asked.
James frowned, thinking about it. With a distracted hand, he began to play with his glasses, before moving his lips, like he was talking, but no sound were going out of his mouth. With a high degree of satisfaction, Theresa realised she had put doubt in his head.
Theresa knew for sure the Gryffindor girls in her year had never been pranked. Sofia didn't want to, since they were all close friends for her.
"No, I don't think so, actually", Potter announced, obviously deep in his thoughts. "But they never did a prank into a girl's dormitory, no? Since they're fighters for women's rights and all..."
"Heck no," Theresa scoffed. "Last year, they cursed all our shoes!"
"Oh, I remember that one", Remus said, bitting his lips to not laugh. "They had begun to fly in Herbology class, their shoes bringing them up."
"It's not funny, Remus!" Theresa said, even though she wanted to laugh with him.
She was the one who cursed all the shoes. The young girl was mad because they borrowed her make-up and used it all. So, she had decided to take a revenge, but knew it would supiscious if they all rose in the greenhouses except her. But it was still lots of fun for her.
"But yeah, the Ravenclaw girls have been pranked, maybe not all of them, but still. The Slytherins, well, all their jewels turned into snakes in Charms class, in our fifth year", Theresa continued, counting on her fingers. "And Hufflepuffs... Have the girl in Hufflepuff been pranked?"
"Yes", Peter said, speaking for the first time since Theresa was present. "All the girl's dormitories were infested with cockroaches. They were everywhere, they had to sleep in the Common Room for two weeks. I think it was in September last year."
"But, have the girls in Gryffindor been pranked?" Theresa asked, eyeing the three boys.
They all exchanged glances.
"No", Remus finally said.
Theresa arched an eyebrow.
"That might be a lead, you know. About knowing who are the Amazons."
"You're right," Potter said. "That's a thing we've got to take in consideration. You know what? You just gave me an idea, Theresa. I'm going to do a board, with all their pranks, and determine who were the victims. It could help a lot to find out who they are. In fact, I'm going right now."
James Potter raised from his chair, excitement visible in every gesture he was doing. He was almost running out of the room, under the gaze of every student in the Great Hall.
"Bye?" Theresa said, making Peter and Remus snicker.
After that weird scene with Potter, Theresa was determined to, well, not see Sirius. As much as she wanted to see him, she knew it wouldn't be a good idea, since she was kind of the one who stole his money.
Feeling sick, Theresa apologized to the two boys quickly, raised from the Gryffindor table and began to walk as fast as she could. She entered the nearest restroom, and ran to the toilet, throwing up the small amount of food she had eaten a few minutes ago.
Feeling a little bit better, but not much, Theresa sat down beside, her back against the cabin's wall.
That's why Theresa was doing everything in her power to be the least stressed possible. She couldn't handle it.
"Theresa?" a calm, unsure voice asked.
The Veela immediately recognised Sofia's gentle voice.
"Yeah?"
"You okay?" Sofia asked.
Theresa saw her red baskets walk to her cabin's door, and stay there.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Theresa said.
"Can you come out?"
"Not really. My breath smells like puke."
Sofia chuckled.
"I don't care, Tess, just get out. Or at least open the door so I can join you."
