"Do you think they found a way to take it off?" Courtney asked Holland, applying scarlet red lipstick on her luscious lips. "It has been 5 days since they woke up with it."
"It probably depends on The Amazons' mood", Holland answered, blending her makeup with precautions. "They always decide on everything, these days."
"Yeah... I mean, it's quite weird, isn't it?"
"What's weird?"
"The Amazons wrote on their foreheads 'All hail to The Amazons' with pimples. And it almost seems like it was on random people. A few of each year. They wrote it on The Marauders' heads, which isn't surprising, but they also wrote it Jane Sherman's face! Malcolm Pucey's too! I mean, how were they choosing the victims? Isn't it odd that there are only a few girls who have it on their foreheads?" Courtney asked.
"Yeah, I guess", Holland muttered, adjusting her eyebrows with a dark pencil. "They probably had a few grudges against those people. It wouldn't surprise me. Pucey, for example; he's a dick. That can be a reason why he was chosen. There are plenty of reasons."
"Right", Courtney continued. "I'm just glad none of us had it. I have enough pimples already."
"Your skin is perfect, Court'. Stop complaining about your looks. You're splendid, and if I remember correctly, Mike Danson asked you on a date. Twice."
Holland had made sure that none of her friends received the treatment they were planning. Actually, they all protected their friends, except Theresa, who was tired of Jane. Apparently, she had spent the whole night talking shit about Holland; creating false rumours. The Amazons were more than happy to add the Charm on her.
"I know", the blonde girl blushed. "But I can't go out with him. My parents wouldn't allow it."
"You could talk to them about it", Holland proposed. "They don't want you to have a boyfriend because they care about you and they want to protect you. I'm sure you'd be able to convince them."
Courtney smiled at Holland. It might seem like a bad situation, for her friend, but Holland was more envious than anything else. Her friend's parents were ready to do anything for their daughter and to make sure she was happy, while it was the contrary to The Hippogriff's parents. While Courtney's parents don't want her to have a boyfriend because he could break her heart, Holland's parents helped a boy who almost raped her to go back to her school.
How did she know? It was simple; it was a decision made by the Hogwarts Board of Governors, to bring him back. The Puceys and the Corderos, along with the Malfoys, were powerful enough to change their decision. Yes, the Cordero didn't know it was their daughter who was the victim. Still, it wasn't an excuse for bringing him back in Hogwarts. Whoever the girl was, this person had the right to feel safe at her own school.
And it wasn't Holland's case anymore. At every class she shared with him, she'd make sure to sit at the back of the class, where she could keep an eye on him. At the parties, she couldn't take a sip of alcohol, knowing he was around. At dinner, she didn't feel comfortable to sit at the same table. They had to share the same Common Room. It wasn't a condition she lived well with.
"Let's go", Holland grinned at Courtney when the last layer of lipstick was on. "Blair will wonder if we let her down."
The two girls left the Slytherin dormitory and exited the Common Room, walking towards the Room of Requirements once again.
"I always wondered why we went to the Gryffindors' parties", Courtney said. "With all the rivalry between these two Houses, you know."
"It's because they know how to party", Holland's eyes glinted mischievously. "We wouldn't miss them, would we?"
