"What do you mean, he assaulted you?", Elizabeth asked Holland.
Holland contacted them earlier, asking her friends to visit her that night, at the infirmary. Elizabeth was extremely worried. Holland was never sick, and she was afraid that something bad had happened to her. It was hard, waiting at night to see her, but it needed to be done. They couldn't be less careful.
"Malcom drank too much. And he tried to have sex with me, but I didn't want to. We were in the middle of a corridor! And I hate it when he's drunk, so I wasn't going to let him. And when I said no, he was pretty angry. He slammed my head against the wall, and I got a concussion. It's no big deal, but Madam Pomfrey kept me for the whole day to be sure it was going away", Holland explained.
"What a prick!", Theresa gaspped.
The young Slytherin turned and stared at the window, her brown hair falling freely on her shoulders. It was clear for Elizabeth that Holland was affected. It's normal, thought Elizabeth, because her boyfriend almost raped her. It must be traumatizing enough.
"Are you going to tell Dumbledore?", Sofia asked, taking her hand.
Sofia was the closest to Holland, sat on her bed, while Elizabeth and Theresa were standing beside her bed.
"Probably", Holland shrugged. "But I don't want him to get expelled either, you know."
"Uh, he sould be expelled! It's not a joke, sexual harassement. He could do that to anyone else! If he's expelled, that's because he deserves it. You must tell someone, H", Theresa exploded.
The red-haired girl agreed with her, but she didn't know why Theresa looked so revolted. She also noticed that her friend looked... Not like herself. Theresa had no makeup on, she was dressed in a pajama, when she usually always have makeup perfectly applied, with the most fashionable clothes on. Also, she almost didn't talk all night, looking rather distracted with something else. Elizabeth noted that in a corner of her head, and got back to what Holland was saying.
"Malcolm is not a criminal, and I don't want to ruin his future. But I'll tell Dumbledore, or Slughorn. I'll do something about it, girls, I promise."
"Great. He better never touch one of your hair again, H," Elizabeth said, hugging her.
"We can't let him go just like this. Malcolm is sexist, mean, arrogant, selfish and he tried to rape someone. The Amazons must show him we don't like the way he's acting, don't you think?", Theresa said.
Elizabeth and Sofia immediately agreed, nodding, but Holland wasn't sure.
"Girls... I want to make him pay as much as you do... But he'll know it's because of me, right? He'll know I'm an Amazon if we do it."
Lizzy thought about it for a second.
"Well, we can do it in a subtil way. And write a note to him, that would appear on the wall with the symbol, with our signature. Everyone always knows we have eyes everywhere, he'll think we just saw it, the same way we see everything without anyone knowing how", she suggested.
They all stared at her.
"That's brilliant! Come on, Holland, let's do it!", Sofia exclaimed.
Holland thought about it for a few moments, and finally nodded.
"Fine. What are you thinking about?"
"Oh, I have already sorted that out, my dear", Theresa smirked, looking quite pleased with her idea.
"I'll write the note", Elizabeth shrugged.
"I also have a small surprise for him", Sofia added. "We are already fierce enough when we are working one at a time. Imagine when the four of us add their personal touch."
The four girls exchanged glances. Oh, Malcolm Pucey didn't know what was about to hit him. And Elizabeth couldn't wait to put all their strenght together, to teach him a small lesson.
***
"'Cause I'm gonna lift you up", Elizabeth muttered, the song stuck in her head.
She put on her flip-flops, ready to relax that day. Her long, red hair was in a high ponytail, and she was wearing an army green shirt, that was showing a thin line of her belly, with a large pants with flowers on it. Elizabeth had an unique style, and she was proud of it.
"Liiiiiiiiiifffffffft youuuuuuu uppppppp", she continued, entering in the Hufflepuff Common room.
Their Common Room was quite small, compared to the others. It was cozy and calm, with the colors yellow and black everywhere. Elizabeth, who was scared of heighs, was quite satisfied with the emplacement; it was at the first floor, beside the kitchen. Something else Eliza liked, since food is one of her biggest passion.
She said 'hi' to most of people in the Common Room, before she sat with Amos Diggory.
"Can you believe that Professor Sprout is giving us a hundred lines about Venenous Tentacula? I only know it's a venenous plant, with tentaculas! I don't even know if it's a real word, why would she ask a hundred lines?", she sighed, desesperate.
He barely even look at her.
"What?", Elizabeth asked, rather offensed.
She liked to talk with people, but they needed to be respectful, at least. He was completely ignoring her!
"Did a cat eat your tongue?", she demanded.
"My tongue is fine, thank you. Just tired of all the snogging I did last night", he announced, turning a page.
Elizabeth furrowed her eyebrows in a expression of disgust.
"I didn't want to know, Amos. What your tongue does isn't any of my business"
"I have to admit, Georgina Fitcher is quite good-"
Elizabeth sighed, tired. She got on her feet and left the Common Room. She had no idea why he was acting so... Macho. Playboy. She didn't like it when he was like this, so she preferred to leave, ready to find someone more sympathetic. More like her. Like Fabian and Gideon Prewett.
An other thing she didn't know, was that Amos Diggory stared at her the whole time, asking himself why he acted so foolishly. But he already knew the answer. He wanted to make Elizabeth jealous. Except that Elizabeth wasn't the kind of person to become jealous, it wasn't in her genes. And Amos Diggory realized it when it was too late.
"'Cause I'm gonna lift you up, from across the sky", she continued, close to the kitchen.
She heard something in the other corridor, like rushed footsteps, hiding. Frowning, Elizabeth immediately began to run towards the corridor, and looked at it. She wasn't scared and she didn't need to know who it was, but Eliza was curious.
The other person hid behind an armor, and Elizabeth only had the time to see a scarlet red converse. She immediately smirked.
"Sof, it's just me, you can get out."
Sofia shyly exited from her hiding place, with a gross, light green plant, that looked like a cactus with pimples all over it.
"I thought it was someone else", Sofia explained.
"Is it for Malcolm?", Elizabeth whispered, pointing the plant.
"Yes! I asked my dad to send me a Mimbulus Mimbletonia -er, I'm sorry if it's not the word in English, I only know it in French- for an homework, and he did! It's nothing dangerous, but if you explode one of its pimple, you regret it, believe me. I'm going to take the juice off, put it in a bottle, and I'll find a way to throw the juice on his head", she announced proudly. "How is the note going?"
"Well, but I'm trying to make rimes, so it would be even more catchy", Elizabeth said. "Do you know what is Theresa doing for the spell? She is making a huge secret with it"
They began to walk together.
"No, I have absolutely no idea. I think she's going to do something big, maybe turn him into a snake to show everyone his true colors with a bad joke," Sofia grinned. "But knowing her, she won't hold her anger back. No one messes with an Amazon without consequences."
Elizabeth smiled too.
"Are we going to put the charm soon? I can't wait to make this.... Horrible human being pay."
Sofia sent an amused look at Elizabeth.
"An horrible humain being. You can tell 'prat', or even 'prick', you know. You don't always have to be nice... But I think we should do it tomorrow, the sooner we can. After that, Holland will go tell Dumbledore everything, so he'll be properly punish. Twice."
The red-haired girl glanced at the plant, who was dangerously near her. She trusted Sofia when she said people regretted to explode the plant's pimples, and she didn't want to try it.
They soon were in the hall, and they had to go in different ways, so people wouldn't be suspiscious.
Elizabeth noticed Remus' light brown hair, so she joined him. The Amazons weren't fond of the Marauders. Sometimes, they even hated them. But Eliza always hung out with Remus, and she liked him. He was quite sympathetic, exactly the type of people she enjoyed to be with.
"Rem!", she exclaimed, going at his side.
"Hey, Beth", he grinned tiredly.
"Are you okay?", she immediately said, worried.
With a sick sister, Elizabeth was worrying over people's health pretty easily.
"Yes, I'm fine. Just little bit tired."
Eliza frowned. There was something new on his face.
"Where did you do this?", she began, pointing the new scar on his already scarred face. "And how? And where were you those three last days?"
"I was in my dormitory. And it happened with a spell. I was cutting a paper, and it didn't happen well, mom", Remus grinned.
"Remus, I'm not joking. You really think I'm that idiot? I know it was a full moon two days ago", she muttered, tired of keeping what she already knew about Remus.
His face was suddenly whiter, but he grinned like nothing happened.
"You know your moon calender, that's great. You were probably amazing in Astronomy and Divination. But I don't see the link between this and the spell I missed."
"For 1, you knew I totally sucked in both subjects. I don't even remember how many moons Jupiter has, and I thought that a Grim was an alligator instead of a dog at the beginning. Second point, you can play dumb as much as you want, I know what you are. So you don't have to deny it."
He stopped to walk.
"And what am I? The most gorgeous person in the world?", he smirked.
"Don't force me to say it out loud, Rem. I've known it since our third year, when we saw everything about... them. Why don't you trust me?"
His smirk immediately left, and he watched outside the window grimly. Elizabeth knew a huge dilemma was happening in his head, so she said nothing more.
"Okay, come with me", Remus sighed.
He took her arm and brought her with him, in an empty classroom. Elizabeth looked at the room, seeing some desks in a corner, a closet on an other wall, a few windows. She sat on one of the desks, Remus beside her.
"How did you find out?", he asked, avoiding Elizabeth's gaze.
"In third year, we were seeing dark creatures in the Defense Against the Dark Arts class. I already realised you were disappearing one or two days every month, and when we saw the werewolves, it made me wonder. I checked with a calendar, your surname with the Marauders is 'Moony' and when we had to fight the Boggart, yours was a moon. I think no one else understood, but I did. I didn't tell anything to you because I didn't know how you would react. Sometimes you had a new scar appearing. I wanted you to tell me because I'm your friend. Because you trusted me enough. But it never happened."
Remus stayed silent.
"Why did you tell me today?"
"Because, I was already angry at Amos for being a pig, and when I began to talk to you, you had an attitude I didn't like. So I kind of spilled it because I was angry," Elizabeth giggled, realising how dumb it must have sound.
Remmus nodded, staying silent. Elizabeth stared at her hands, feeling uncomfortable. She should have waited him to tell her, she knew it. But she was so tired, of him acting like she was an idiot...
"I was bitten when I was five years old. Twelve years ago."
Elizabeth's head popped up, listening carefully, staring at him.
"My dad angered the well-known werewolf, Fenrir Greyback. So he bit me. I'm turning into something awful every month since. I'm a monster since."
"No you're not. Fenrir Greyback is a monster, but not because he's a werewolf. It's because he bites young children, he kills people as soon as he's unhappy. But you're not a monster. You never tried to hurt someone when you weren't under the control of your pulsions. My opinion of you didn't change one bit since I learned the truth. Yours shouldn't too," she said honestly. "I like you a lot, Remus, and you're one of the nicest people I ever met. Don't let the fact that you're a werewolf change the way you see yourself."
He finally found the courage to meet Eliza's eyes. She noticed they had small specks of gold in them.
"Thanks, Ellie. You won't tell anyone, right?"
"Of course not!", she said, taking his hand. "I've never told anyone for years, why would it change? But, who else knows?"
"James, Sirius, Peter... And Snape."
"Snape?" Elizabeth demanded, shocked.
"Yeah, long story. So, do you have a big secret in exchange?"
It would have been so easy, to tell there 'I'm the Pegasus', but the words couldn't slip out of her tongue. As much as she wanted to share this with him, specially after he shared his story, Elizabeth knew she couldn't. Because when the Amazons first became a group, two years ago, she promised she would keep the secret. Elizabeth wasn't hiding it for her, she was hiding it for her friends.
It was always hard to lie to someone she liked as much as she liked Remus. But it was the kind of sacrifices she was ready to make to be friend with Holland, Theresa and Sofia. She loved them more than anyone else in the world.
So, instead of saying the truth, like she wanted too, Elizabeth smiled brightly, and opened her arms.
"I'm an open book."
