The first evening at Elizabeth's place seemed to last a whole month, in Sofia's opinion. It was filled with awkward silences, glares between her and Theresa, and glares from Holland to the both of them that was screaming 'You two better talk, or I'll kill you in your sleep'. Holland Cordero was the only one who could threaten someone with a single green glare, and it was enough to make Sofia nervous.
The dinner seemed to last forever. The four girls were trying to be sympathetic and to have a great impression on Mr and Mrs Drake, so they talked to each other, laughing. Sofia mainly hoped they didn't notice how tensed she truly was, neither the sharp glares she used to send to Theresa.
Why was Sofia so mad? It was quite obvious: Theresa kissed her boyfriend. She had every right to be mad at her. A friend doesn't kiss your boyfriend. As simple as that. By doing so, Theresa showed how she didn't care about the way Sofia could feel, and The Phoenix wouldn't forgive her that soon.
Then, the four of them climbed to Elizabeth's bright yellow room. Holland and Elizabeth did everything in their power to make Theresa and Sofia talk, but the two girls immediately got into their own beds, Sofia with Lizzy, Theresa and Holland in the guest room.
Even though the Gryffindor went to bed early, she didn't sleep much. Her head was too clouded with thoughts. She couldn't help but wonder how she didn't realize there had to be a catch, when Lizzy had invited her. How she didn't even think about what she would do in case Theresa showed up. Sofia had been fooled so easily, it was shocking.
Then, she realised that maybe she knew, deep down, that Theresa would be there. And she couldn't refuse the opportunity to see her friend. To know how she was doing. If Jane was as much annoying. If her parents finally stopped fighting. Sofia knew that one day, everything would be fixed. But she still felt like it was too soon.
They didn't talk more the whole day after. Sofia pretexted a bad headache, and stayed the whole day inside, in Elizabeth's small house, when the others went ice skating.
The house was small, but it was so cozy and filled with love, the size didn't matter. There was a living room, a kitchen, a dining room, one bathroom and four bedrooms. Sofia thought her friend's house would be bigger, since her father was a lawyer. It only took her a few moments to realize that they were happy with what they had, and that they didn't need better house. They didn't want a bigger house. The Drake family was modest, and wasn't looking for happiness in the material possessions. It impressed Sofia a lot. It's not a lot of people who thinks this way.
Dinner was great, if you don't count the awkward silences between the girls. Skylar was a great cook. She even made vegetarian meals specially for Elizabeth, who loved the animals way too much to eat them. Actually, if Sofia remembered correctly, Lizzy wasn't against eating meat, but the way people treated those animals. She was fighting against the hard conditions the animals had to live in and Sofia encouraged her, but she wouldn't stop eating meat. She loved it too much.
Right after dinner, Sofia went into Elizabeth's bedroom. She was about to put her pajama on, so she could go to sleep without being forced to have an interaction with Theresa, when the door flew open. It was Holland and Elizabeth who were pushing Theresa inside the room. The blond girl was squirming around, trying to escape, pleading them, but the Pegasus and The Hippogriff didn't budge; at the second Theresa was in the room, they closed the door, after Lizzy called Sofia's and Theresa's wand. Then, she locked the door, leaving the two girls inside, alone.
Sofia mentally cursed her friends, and Theresa began hitting on the door.
"You better open this fucking door!" Theresa yelled against it.
