~Late That Night~

~Arlie P.O.V.~

Ginot, Varo, Tilly Beans and I were standing out in the brightly lit hallway outside Sweets' room as Lexis went straight to intensive care and they wanted no one else back there for the time being. I wasn't scuffed up too bad to my surprise, some scratches here and there with the burn on my hand feeling hot to the touch but I'd be fine once I got some ice on it. I should've asked one of the nurses for some ice but I can wait, there was no rush. Varo and Ginot also weren't scuffed up for the most part. We didn't surrender to them, we were simply too outnumbered and not prepared for all this to happen. Had I known, I would have been strapped from head to toe and extra clips galore but what us three went through apparently wasn't nearly as bad as what Sweets, Tilly Beans and Lexis dealt with.

I noticed Ginot had mentioned something to Varo to which he gave a nod in response and walked off down the long busy hallway. Nurses were literally running back and forth as tonight the ER was busy. I wasn't listening to each individual case as I was focused on Lexis and Sweets' cases but I could see the exhaustion in all these nurses. Tilly Beans who was originally leaning up with her back against the wall was now sitting on the floor, her back still pressed against the wall with her legs up to her chest and a blank stare to her face.

"Are you sure you're okay?" I asked taking a seat next to her, resting my arms on the tops of my knees and she looked over at me, a small smile on her face as she nodded her head slowly. "I don't know, Mami. You look like you been tossed around quite a bit."

"I literally was tossed around and it wasn't even by you, Daddy." A shake of her head and even in a time like this she manages to bring out a smile from me which was uplifting as it took attention away for a moment from the misfortune we were all going through. "I'm fine, compared to Sweets and Lexis at least so I can't complain." Her black leggings tore up in various spots; cuts, bruises and scrapes along her body that I could see since she still remained without a shirt on but I need to realize she's far tougher than she looks, not someone who's delicate. "I was thinking about it, what if Lexis has to stay here for far longer than just today and tomorrow? Do we tell Nelle Bells? Do we not? Can they transfer him to his hospital in Oakland?" She asked and she had a point as I didn't even think that far ahead as a possibility in the situation.

"We'll wait and see what the doctors say then go from there." I said and she nodded her head. "Varo, did you get a hold of Trey when you were outside?"

"Yeah I got a hold of him and let him know to be prepared but I didn't get the chance to explain to his ass about Malcolm. He said he had to go but not to worry he's gonna get shit straight and under control." He said with a shrug of his shoulders. "I tried callin' him again but now his phone is off or dead and the twins aren't answering so we just leave it in their hands." He said sounding not like himself at all, constantly looking at the door to Sweets' room and you could feel the worry he had for her.

"I have trust in Trey. I just don't believe what happened."

"Me either. I never thought one of our other traps would come back at us like this. Then seein' Lexis like that..." He began to shake his head steadily. "We're never to see him like that, Arlie. Growin' up, Lexis wasn't a nigga you'd see caught up or in the hospital like this."

"I know, Varo. Well he already wasn't looking too good before we left and Sweets even mentioned to me that she wished he just stayed back and let us handle the shit out here. I still can't accept that Lexis is hanging on to life by a thin thread, it's unreal that this really happened and it's only the beginning." Tilly Beans rested her head on my shoulder and let out a sigh. I wrapped my arm around her shoulder, holding her close for a sense of comfort.
