Retributed: The Final Chapter (Part 1)
(A/N: I just realized how long this book is and I need to end it so trust me, I know this is going to be a very big jump and not something I would normally do but I'm trying something.)
~8 Years Later~
~LJ P.O.V.~Driving through the streets of Oakland, I was glad it was summer time. The hot nights were what I loved, the sun didn't go down till like nine and that meant more time for shenanigans. Well I was trying to scale it back because the last time I was caught up in it, I ended up serving time and ended up parole. Luckily for me, being on parole was one of the best things that happened because I met the love of my life and believe it or not, we just celebrated our one year anniversary a couple months ago. Now I never thought that would happen but I have to say, Breezy was right. When love hits you, it hits harder than anything you could ever imagine, so now I understand why his ass was always so stuck on Vonnie even when there was a time she didn't want him but he never stopped because love got that kind of power. Scary at times when you think about it.
My wifey was a king pin of her own respectively down in LA but now she's up here in Oakland where she seemingly fit right in to the family business, you'd think she was one of us cousins who grew up under the wing of IRG. Lovely L was what she went by to me she was London and she was mine the first day I laid eyes on her when I had to a construction job at her house. From there, the rest is history. Never saw myself with a girlfriend, let alone being married but here we are and I won't lie, it helps Mom sleep better at night knowing someone has constant tabs on me because before London... Breezon and I were not good when we left alone. Joel used to be part of that but after his son was born, he settled a lot and as his son grew older, he wanted to make sure his son was his priority and I give him props. He stepped up since he was seventeen and we've all been there to help him out when he needed it because that's just what this family does.
Pulling up next to Mom's iconic escalade, all I could was shake my head. That car was older than me and just barely runs but God damn is that car still holding on by a thread. One day she'll let me drive it and I can't for that day. But until then, she forever more hides the keys to her precious car. I also smiled at the matching Mercedes Dad bought them for one of their anniversaries. I bet hers only has like fifty miles put on it because I have never seen that car leave this driveway let alone with Mom behind the wheel. I already called dibs on both the cars when Mom decides she doesn't want them anymore. I just haven't told her that yet as it's too soon but when that day comes, I already know how I'm going to present it to her.
"Hey Mom, sorry I'm late." I said as I pulled her in for a hug, towering over her like usual, she pulled me in for such a warm hug and it made me feel bad. "I know I gotta come around more often, it's just been a lil' busy." I said as she let me go.
"It's okay, I'm just glad you're here. Everyone else is out back at the patio table. Take a seat and I'll bring out the drinks." I nodded my head.
"You need any help?" I heard DeShawn call out from outside and I smiled to myself because I couldn't wait to see him. I continued on my way through the house and normally there would a dog to follow at my footsteps but its been years since Mom has wanted another one. Maybe one day I'll surprise her with a puppy to help keep her occupied and build a new love with an animal again. I've never seen this house without an animal and not having one here now almost feels wrong.
"Aye everyone, what's good?" I reached around the table and dapped everyone. Starting with DeShawn since he stood up front he table to go inside and help Mom. Next was Ty, then Breezy, August and Trey. They all looked like they were sharing some laughs among the table and I joined right on in.
