"What do you think happened?" Beth asked.

"I don't know okay." I replied back.

"Well something must've." Jessica mumbled.

"Hey maybe it wasn't my fault." I snapped.

"You followed all the rules?" Jessica said to me.

"Yes." I mumbled back.

"Did you stutter?"

"No."

"Did you say something stupid?"

"No."

"Told you he's a jackass." Beth shouted from the fridge.

My parents had tone to visit my grandma at her house while I was gone. I told Jessica and Bethany what had happened at Starbucks earlier. We were now in my living room discussing and trying to figure out what triggered his jerky ego.

"Maybe he really had to go." Jess told me.

"Okay yeah sure, but the way he dodged my question was way wrong, like so what if you don't have a sister?" I snapped.

"Maybe he has a troubled past." Beth said excitedly. "That's sort of a turn on right?"

"Not if you're gonna be an asshole about it." I replied.

"True. But maybe we should just let him be for a while yeah?" Beth said throwing me a can of coke.

"Whatever." I mumbled.

"Anyway, there's a party at Michael Roosevelt's house on Friday night and I thought, maybe we could go?" Jessica said checking her phone.

"No." I said. "I'm terrible at socializing. And I suck at partying."

"Come on!!" Beth pleaded as she sat beside me. "It will be a test for your new found girl skills! You could even get a new guy friend! It's a necessity in a girl's life you know."

"Yeah!" Jessica agreed as she gave Beth a high five.

"No." I said finally. "I'm not going. It will end up in disaster."

"Not true!" Beth spat.

"Totally true! And you know it!" I spat back.

"Oh come on Blair. If you can't make friends when you don't talk to strangers first, then you can't know what could possibly happen during that party. You have to try at least!"

"No thank you!" I said in a perky voice.

"Alright but we know you'll change your mind sooner or later." Jessica rolled her eyes.

"Whatever." I told her.

I heard my phone buzz and the caller ID was an unknown number. I stood up from the coach and walked over to a nearby window and and quickly answered it.

"Uhmm, hello?" I greeted.

"Is this, Claire? Oh wait I mean Blair?" The voice said.

"Yeah... Who is this?"

"This is Thomas. Thomas Willows?" I froze.

"Uhmm... I think you got the wrong number. I'm Blair Thompson." I said emphasizing my last name.

"No actually. If I'm not mistaken, the Blair I want to talk to is in my homeroom class." Oh wow he noticed.

But then who wouldn't notice that awkward ugly duckling?

"Hold on a second..." I said to him.

I quickly covered the phone and ran towards my friends. "It's fucking Thomas Willows!!" I loudly whispered.

"Shit!" They both said in unison.

I got back to my phone with both of them quietly listening.

"Sorry, but how did you get my number?"

"School directory." He said smoothly.

"Oh. Anyway, what can I help you with Thomas?" Bethany and Jessica gave me a thumbs up.

"I was wondering if you wanted to come with me to Michael's party this Friday?"

I froze again. Here I was standing in my living room on a normal day when my all time crush suddenly gets a hold of my number and asks me to a party.

Damn.

"Excuse me?" He chuckled.

"Oh sorry..." I say.

Did I seriously say that out loud? Embarrassing much.

"So anyway, do you wanna go?"

"Oh, uhmm... Sure." I say in a perky voice.

"That's... That's great!" I can feel him smile. "I'll pick you up at 8." He said and hung up.

I took a deep breath and shouted. "WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!!" And ran to the sofa and started jumping up and down on it.

"I GOT ASKED TO A PARTY BY THOMAS WILLOWS!!!" I shouted and My friends ran towards me and tackled me in a hug.

"Congratulations Blair!!" Bethany said as they pulled away.

"Wow. Ohmygosh! What should I wear? Can you guys help me? I need makeup and a-"

"Wait." Jessica said cutting me off. Her smile faded and she looked at me with such curiosity. "Don't you think it's odd that just yesterday he didn't even know your name? And now he, the most popular boy in school, asks you, the least popular girl in school (no offense) to a party?"

"Well yeah actually it is kind of weird." Bethany said trailing off. "But come on Jess, can't you be happy for her? She's been crushing on this guy forever!"

"I guess." She said smiling at me. "But be careful okay? Something just doesn't feel right."

"I will mom." I teased. "Oh shit guys you were right. I am gonna go. It's a good thing both of you will be there with me."

"How flattering." Beth said clutching her chest. "Jessica! We need to come over to this house everyday after school and make sure that Blair Thompson is ladylike!"

Okay, so I'm not ladylike? Ouch guys.

"Indeed Bethany!" She agreed. "I'm excited now."

"Me too!" Beth said.

"ME THREE!" I shouted and pulled both of them into a hug.

"I hope this makes up for that asshole." Beth mumbled referring to Carter.

"Me too." I said swooning.

Over Thomas... Not Carter.

Little did I know that this wonderful fairytale fantasy, would soon turn into a nightmare.
