"Please answer Blair I can explain."
"Blair please Im worried sick."
"Pick up please Blair I need to explain."
"Are you alright? Please say something."
"Blair, I miss you, please answer."
"Call me if you get this."
"I need to know you're okay, Blair c'mon please pick up."
Their words were like poison being fed to my ears. I listened to all their voicemails and read all their texts but neither of them 'explained' what happened.
As if they even had an explanation.
What sensible lie could you even come up with for a situation like that? My best friend making out with my almost boyfriend. The night was going so well and this totally made it the best night ever.
Note the sarcasm.
Dylan had offered to give me a ride to Beth's house, since he needed to get home as well.
"Are you sure I should leave?" He said as we were approaching the house. "I can always skip family lunch and stay here."
"That isn't necessary dyl, I can handle myself." I smiled. He gave a hesitant look but replied "Fine."
We pulled up beside the curb and I unbuckled my seatbelt. I grabbed my phone and stuffed it in my pocket and opened the door. My head spun around as I felt him grab my wrist. "Just call me if you need anything okay? Im always here." He said, his face looking worried.
"Okay." I said and shut the door gently. His car sped off and I walked down Beth's front lawn. I knocked on the door gently and it swung open.
"Hey there Calvin!" I said as a small boy peeped out the door.
"Hi Blair." He smiled shyly.
I crouched down and gave him a hug. "Is your sister home?" I smiled as I pulled away.
"She's in her room." He replied as he gestured for me to come inside.
"Thanks sport." I said and ruffled his hair. He giggled slightly and I ran up the stairs, skipping a few steps. I was about to knock on the door when it swung open to reveal bed haired Beth in her unicorn pajamas. She pulled me in and shut the door behind her.
"You seriously haven't dressed up yet?" I laughed. "What if I was a serial killer? Would you want me to see you in your unicorn pajamas?"
"Irrelevant question." She said as I sat on her bed. "Real question is, what are you going to say to Jess and/or Carter?"
I looked down at my shoes and shook my head. What was I going to say? I couldn't forgive them easily from what they did, but I also loved both of them.
"I don't know." I mumbled softly. "I haven't really planned it out yet."
She scoffed. "Of course you didn't. Which is why I am going to help you!" She shook her head and opened her closet.
"I really want to forgive them, but at the same time I'm really really angry at them. Wouldn't you be angry to?" I asked her as she was picking whether to wear a sheer blue green sleeveless button down top or a black 'California' Tank.
"I would actually, but Im not here to fuel your anger, Im here to get rid of it and help you guys get back together." She said. "Which one?" She asked raising the two tops. I pointed to the black one and she got into the bathroom to change.
"So what do you suggest I do, beloved guidance counselor?" I asked jokingly as I laid down on her bed.
She came out of the bathroom wearing the shirt, with a toothbrush in her mouth. "I suggest, you talk to them first. See what explanation they have."
"Then?"
She was brushing her teeth now. "If its a good explanation then they'll build up your trust again. If its a bad one, then its up to them to make it up to you." She said.
"And If they don't have a valid reason? What then?" The rest of her words sounded muffled, and I could no longer make them out. "Beth spit it out." I laughed. She ran into the bathroom and cleaned her mouth.
"Then find other people." She said returning into the room.
"And what about you? What happens to you if I don't forgive them?"
"Do you honestly think I'd let some silly quarrel get in the way of our friendship? Honestly I wouldn't pick sides but she cant make me stop hanging out with you, and the same goes for you." She said sternly.
"You're the best Beth." I smiled.
"You're damn right I am." She stated fiercely as she grabbed my wrist and dragged outside. "Now let's go get some fucking food."
