As we walked in the house, we were both greeted by our friends. Thomas excused himself to go talk to his friends and Beth pulled me away.
"Howdy!" She screamed at my face.
"Jesus." I mumbled. "You're fucking drunk Beth!"
That earned me a slap. "I'm not drunk Christ." She told me. "How was the car ride?"
"Well Ca-" I stopped. I shouldn't ruin this night for my friends with negative vibes. Carter shouldn't have ruined mine too but I wasn't going to let his douchebag-ness ruin anyone's. "It was fine." I smiled.
"Awesome. I'm getting another drink!" She said as she pulled my arm to the mini-bar. " another beer please!" She shouted to the guy manning it.
"So anyway, where's Jess?" I asked curiously.
"Oh she met this guy and they're dancing together over there!" She pointed to the dance floor and indeed I saw an almost drunk Jessica dancing with some random guy. Jessica was never a good dancer but it looked like she was having fun. Beth and I both laughed at the sight of Jessica dancing until she spoke up.
"Looks like Prince Charming over there is waiting for you." She pointed at Thomas who was slowly approaching us. "Work it!" She said and pushed me towards him.
"Having fun?" He asked.
"Yeah! This party is pretty cool." I said looking around.
"Wanna get some drinks?" He said. "On me."
"Sure!" I said.
We both sat down on the couch with a cup each of beer. He slowly put his arms around me and took a sip of his beer. Michael soon approached us and fist pumped Thomas.
"How's the party guys? Having fun?" He asked.
"Yeah!" We replied in unison.
"Good because we have a huge surprise later!" Michael winked at us and danced away.
"Surprise?" I asked.
"Yeah." Thomas replied. "It's gonna be rad."
"Cool."
We were chatting on the couch until Jess and Beth approached me and pulled me away.
"It's fine." Thomas told me. "I'm gonna go set up the surprise." He winked and left.
"Yeah what is that surprise anyway?" Beth asked. "People have been looking at me funny and telling me all about it this whole time."
"Thomas said it was gonna be awesome so I guess we'll just have to wait." I answered back. "Meanwhile let's dance!"
All three of us headed for the dance floor and started dancing until we were too thirsty. We approached the bar and got more drinks. I was having a pretty awesome time until someone grabbed my shoulder and spun me around.
"Blair! I've been looking all over for you! What the fuck are you doing here? I told you not to go!" He shouted at me.
"What the hell?" I replied. "And because you told me not to I shouldn't? You're not my godamn boyfriend Carter get of my back!"
"No! Jesus fuck something bad will-"
"Enough!" Jessica told him. "You've been following her around since day one and you've played with her enough you dirtbag!"
"Excuse me can I have everyone's attention?" Thomas said into the microphone. "Can Bethany, Jessica and my date, Blair please come up?"
All three of us looked at each other and walked to the platform.
"Do you know what all three of you girls have in common?" He said. "You're all losers."
And with that blue paint fell on our heads and the crowd erupted with laughter. I wiped my eyes to see that the rope that triggered the paint was pulled than none other than Monica.
"You're dress looks like a uniform!" Someone shouted from the crowd.
"Swirly!!" Another screamed.
"This is truly a memorable night isn't it?" Thomas said to the crowd as they cheered on.
Monica walked to the mic and talked. "You're worthless freaks who don't belong here." She said and everyone laughed much louder. "Am I right or am I right?" She shouted to the crowd.
"You really thought I liked you?" Thomas whispered. "You're a nobody 'Claire'. And you will stay that way." He smirked. I could feel my eyes let out a few tears and so I ran down the stage and out the door.
I heard Carter call my name out a few times but I ignored him.
I don't know if Bethany and Jessica stayed or ran after me but I didn't care. I just needed to get away from that place.
I didn't stop running until I got home. While I was running, some paint had dried off and some had dripped on the way home so when I entered the house, I didn't cause a mess. I opened the door and ran to the fridge, luckily my note hasn't been removed from the fridge, meaning that nobody was home. I ripped it apart and threw it in the trash can and ran up the stairs. I walked to my bathroom and removed my clothes and started running water. After over 10 minutes of trying to get the paint off my hair, I sat down on the floor.
How could I have been so stupid? Carter was right and I should've trusted him. How could I not see what a trap I was being pulled into? All of a sudden my crush just pops out of nowhere and asks me to a party? That's fantasy.
After I had stopped sobbing, I changed into my pajamas and got ready for bed. I passed by the answering machine a few times and I saw that I had a bunch of missed calls from my friends and from Carter but I just deleted them so my parents wouldn't see.
I payed in bed covered with my blankets and comforter and started overthinking. I thought about my life and everything I was going through. Why was I set as a nerd? Why did people think that? What did I do for me to deserve this? I just wanted to be invisible or get the hell out of here and start a new life someplace else. Maybe I could lose the glasses and the braces and start being a snobby stupid bitch because that's what makes you popular and acceptable.
I was crying again.
And so I cried myself to sleep.
