Stereotyping has done nothing but trouble for me, for everybody I guess.
Calling black people criminals, that's racist.
Calling every female stupid, that's sexist.
But calling an average girl with braces and glasses a nerd? That's stereotyping. And also really really shallow.
Just because these people have freckles, or glasses, or braces, it doesn't mean they're nerds, or freaks, or weirdos, or any other juvenile name society comes up with.
But then again, it's life. Having people judge you.
And my life is all about people judging me. It always has been.
My name is Blair Thompson and I'm your average nerd apparently. Apart from the long brown hair I have and the big brown eyes, I also have huge purple Ray bans, a mouthful of metal braces and a mind that's probably 1/3 of Einstein's brain. Basically, I was a brainiac and that was the apparent definition of being a nerdy loser.
I grew up having people calling me names. When I was in kindergarten, I was cursed with crooked teeth, therefore the name of beaver girl. My mother always asked me to read books, causing me to gain knowledge, spawning the name of Brain Freak. And because of reading all those books, my eyesight became poor, and people started calling me Four Eyes.
So the Four-Eyed-Brain-Freak-Beaver girl was used to everyone making fun of her.
Then again I also had 2 best friends who were just as cool as me.
Jessica Stone was one, who was cursed with the name swirly because she would often get stuffed in the toilet. And the other was Bethany Brooks, who was AKA Big Foot, because she couldn't dance well, in which people assumed was because of her 'big' feet.
People made fun of us all so we made friends with each other, sharing the same pain and all. Strength in numbers!
Aside from my life at school, my life at home was different. I was an only child. No sisters or brothers. All I had was my Mom, my Dad, and my golden retriever Daisy.
Jess and Beth said I was rich but I didn't really think of myself as that. We had a big house actually, 5 floors with 3 or 4 rooms each and a huge backyard. We would often have whatever plans we could think of at my house because it was the biggest among us three.
People say that you're supposed to find yourself in high school. Well, my new life in high school is just getting started.
