After much deliberation, I've decided to tell Carter how I felt, which was complete and utter suicide but hey, it's worth the shot right?
As Beth, Jess and I arrive at school in Beth's new car (one that she received during my coma months) we receive an unusually large amount of stares. Even as we enter the school, the noise in the hallways become quiet although not completely silent. People were staring and whispering behind us as we walked towards our lockers. When we arrived, we saw Lillian and Connor walking towards us.
"Blair!" Lillian screamed, which caused more people to shush as she ran to me and tackled me with a tight bear hug. Connor chuckled and approached us as well.
"Are you okay? What happened? Tell me everything!" Lillian exclaimed excitedley, jumping up and down.
"Relax Lillian." Jessica laughed. "She's fine as long as you don't crush her ribs while hugging her." Lillian immediately pulled away and apologized.
"Hey Thompson." Connor smiled.
"Hey Connor." I laughed and he pulled me into a more gentle hug. From the corner of my eye, I spotted Beth smiling to herself.
"Hey Jess... Beth." He said giving a small smile to Jessica, but later averting his gaze to Beth and smiled at her as well. I saw Beth's rosy cheeks redden even more as Connor waved goodbye and left for class.
"He's so into you." I nudged Beth and she chuckled to herself. "You turned into a damn tomato!" I chuckled and she smacked my shoulder playfully.
"Damn my brother is whipped." Lillian smirks at Beth and her cheeks redden even more. "He looks at you like you're a slice of pizza." She teases as we watch Connor walk down the hallway. He stops for a moment and gives some guy a bro fist and a man hug. I can't see who it is but when he turns around, I realize that it's Carter.
The boy who makes my heart stop.
I tensed up and I felt my friends staring at me. I looked at them and they all nodded, mentally sending me the message that they wanted me to go talk to him. I began walking slowly but Lillian put her hand on my shoulder and whispered in my ear.
"If he says yes, he's worth the pain, if he doesn't, you're just wasting your time, okay? Show him you're not to be toyed with." She pushes me forward violently and I continue to walk. He talks with some of his friends as I walk towards him, then suddenly he spots me.
Our eyes lock and we stare at each other for eternity. He quickly excuses himself from his friends and I shuffle towards him awkwardly.
"Hey." I manage to say and give a weak smile.
"Hi." He replies and returns the gesture. We look away from each other silently and the awkward silence is deafening.
"I need to talk to you." I finally say running my hand through my hair. He opens his mouth to say something but the bell, notifying the start of classes, begins to ring and students make their way into their classrooms.
"I guess... I'll see you later?" He asks rubbing the back of his neck.
"Yeah..." I say awkwardly and he waves goodbye and walks to his class. I give myself a clap on the back and congratulate myself.
Well done Blair. Well done indeed.
Classes were horrible of course. I didn't understand a single word coming out of any teacher's mouth, since I was so behind on my topics and lessons. People I didn't even recognize bombarded me with questions, asking about the experience of a coma and confirmation of rumors.
Lunch was average though. Carter ate with his group of friends and I ate with Lillian and the rest. Connor introduced me to some boys on his team and I have to admit, I must have stereotyped them a little too much because they were actually pretty cool guys.
Engrossed in my own thoughts, I ignored the whispers and gossip being said about me and toned out the entire cafeteria. I didn't think this through. What would I say to him? 'Hey its your ex-crush, apparently I still love you'
"What?" Lillian asked. I look at her and raise my eyebrow in confusion. "You were mumbling stuff. Something about not thinking things through and something about an ex-crush."
"Just thinking to myself I guess." I sighed taking a bite of my peanut butter sandwich.
"You can tell him later, and if things don't workout the way you want them to, the other girls and I were planning a sleepover anyway, so I am officially inviting you!" She says perkily. I laugh at her childlike voice and agree to attend.
However, no bell, or friends could save me from what was about to come during dismissal.
And it was something I would never have expected.
___________________________Hola Amigas!
So here it is, Chapter 30! Sorry I haven't been updating as often as I used to. I'm starting to think that I need a schedule for updating sooo my update day would be every Sunday!
I repeat:
Update Day: Sunday
(and yes, I am totally aware today is not a Sunday)
But this is totally pointless actually since I've already finished writing the other chapters (I just need to revise and edit) and I'll be switching to another account once this book is finished.
