"I can't believe I'm doing this." I groan as I grab a pen and paper.
It was now 10:30 in the evening and my sleepover with Jess and Beth was in motion. Beth thought that her and Jess should start teaching me how to act around boys.
"Welcome to Jess&Beth's lady school! Where we transform young awkward girls to beautiful flowers!" Beth said exitedly.
Oh God.
"Young awkward girls? Seriously?" I complained.
"They're the only ones acceptable!" Jess said as she ate her ice cream.
"Asswholes." I mumbled to myself, shaking my head.
"You better take note honey because Jess and I are about to give lots of rules and tips." Beth said as I groaned.
"Rule one. Don't be nervous and be yourself." Jess said pointing her spoon at me.
"Like I haven't heard that before." I say rolling my eyes. "Guys this is pointless."
"Write it down!!!" Beth scolded. And I did.
"Blair you have to learn how to relax. They're not ghosts or aliens or the boogeyman, they're just HUMAN BOYS." Beth said.
"Just think of them as lower life forms." Jess said with a mouthful of ice cream.
"That's just sexist Jess." I say. "Sorry." She replies.
"They're just as equal as we are Blair. Nothing to fear." Beth says rubbing my arm.
The whole night went like this. Full of rules, books on my head, drills, Jess pigging out on ice cream and a lot more. A sleepover was supposed to be friends SLEEPING over at your house. The word sleep was technically in the name, but they asked me to balance books, try on heels, practice putting on makeup, do my hair and a whole bunch of exercises.
It was exhausting.
"Rule 21, no talking about girl things like periods or boobs." Jess said.
"But wait don't boys actually like talking about boobs? Boys love boobs." Beth said.
"Yeah but-"
"OKAY next rule please." I said cutting Jessica off.
Sooner or later, Jessica finished her tub of ice cream and Beth got tired of talking. It was now half past midnight and I had more than 25 rules, all established and explained.
"You know what Blair?" Beth said sleepily.
"Mmmm" I mumbled.
"You're actually really pretty. You're glasses and braces are just hogging the attention of your other pretty features."
"Sure, okay."
"No really Blair. We can work around it and the boys will be lining up for your number, I promise. Right Jess?"
"Jess...?"
Asleep. As usual. Whenever we had sleepovers, Jess was the first to fall asleep.
"Well whatever, I'll just wait till these things come off. Jesus Christ, it's like hell in your mouth." I said to Beth.
"Hey maybe you can get them removed for like, a week." Beth said. "That's what I did. It was just to see if my teeth were making any progress."
"You know what? Maybe I could. But first, let's pull a traditional prank on our dear friend Jess." I said grinning.
"Right you are Blair." Beth said suddenly perking up.
Beth and I visited my library on the 4th floor and looked for a book on pranks. After finding one and deciding which one we should do, I went to our pantry for some supplies.
"This should to nicely." I said grabbing a bottle of whipped cream. I ran back upstairs and met Beth outside the door.
"Did you find one?" I whispered.
"Yup." She replied revealing a gray feather.
We quietly entered the room to see a snoring Jess. I quietly tiptoed to her outstretched arm and quickly sprayed a mountain of whipper cream. I gave Beth a thumbs up and she tickled Jessica's nose with the soft feather.
"Mmm." Jess mumbled.
We tickled her again.
"Stop it Daisy." She frowned.
We tickled her again. Her hand containing the whipped cream scratched her nose softly which caused the whipped cream to spread a cross her face.
And she still didn't wake up.
Beth and I couldn't hold our giggles any longer so we sprinted out of the room and ran for the bathroom. We entered the room, shut the door and exploded with laughter.
"Holy shit Beth!" I said unable to breathe.
"Fuck! I can't breathe!" She said holding her stomach.
"Stop it Daisy." Beth mocked.
"Oh shit I can't wait to see the look on her face when she gets up tomorrow!!"
"We should take a picture!"
"Let's give it to google!!"
"Deal."
I loved having Beth and Jess around. They were the best when it came to making someone laugh. I'm surprised that they were outcasts like me. They were both smart and pretty and nice and funny. I didn't deserve friends like them.
After a fun filled night of pranks and heels, we finally fell asleep.
I was awoken by the familiar scream of Jessica.
"WHAT THE FUCK GUYS?!" She shrieked as Beth and I woke up. We immediately burst out laughing while Jessica tried wiping out the soft and sticky cream. Beth took a quick photo, which evidently, caused Jessica so shout even more.
"I AM SO GETTING BACK AT YOU!" She snapped.
"Go ahead! I replied.
"Look at my face!! It looks...!! It's..."
"Like a toddler who just finished her birthday cake!!" I laughed.
"You guys are such bitches." She mumbled. "I'm gonna go wipe this shmuck of my face." And she left the room.
"Oh and by the way..." She said as she opened the door once again. "You're just jealous because I'm too sweet for you." She licked her lips and winked at us and closed the door again, leaving Beth and I rolling on the floor unable to breathe because of laughter.
These were the memories I would remember.
These are the days I live for.
They're the friends I love and will always remember.
What would I do without them.
