                       Natasha and Steve POV

Natasha:
A few days later, Fury calls me into his office. Knowing he is angry I immediately go. I quietly open the door and slip into a chair across from him. "Do you try to make my life even more of a living hell?" He says while looking out the window. "Sir..." I start. "No. What were you thinking?! You were tortured for 9 months and yet you just walked out of the hospital like it was just another Sunday." Fury says angrily as he turns to face me. "I... sir.. I'm sorry." I start to fight back but it's pointless because what he said is true. When I was picked up by Fury I was taken to the hospital. Fury left to take care of business, which gave me the perfect opportunity to break out. I slipped out of the hospital unnoticed and went to see Steve. "First if you know we are past formal names Romanoff. Second, you need to get your check up now. Before you ask, That's not negotiable." Fury tells me sternly. I sigh dramatically. "As you wish.... Nick." I give him a sarcastic grin and open the door to leave, but Furys voice stops me. "How are you... Natalia?" Usually I'm uncomfortable when people use my real name, it brings back bad memories, but this time I let it slide, out of pure contentment from Furys worried voice. "I'm fine sir." I tell him even though it's a lie. "Keep telling yourself that." He dismisses me.

An hour later I walk into the S.H.I.E.L.D clinic for my "checkup." "Have a seat miss Romanoff." A women tells me as she pays the dentist type chair. I obey and sit in silence as she shuffled around the room. "So you seem to have multiple fractions, and a few broken ribs." The nurse tells me after she takes x-rays. "So nothing serious." I smile and get up, ready to leave. "Actually miss Romanoff it is serious and we need you to get a CAT scan. There is a possibility that some brain damage was done." The nurse tells me as she pulls me into the scanning room. In sit in the machine for an hour, bored out of my mid. I just want to be with Steve. Finally it's over mad I'm pulled out. The nurse sorts through data on her computer. "Well lucky you miss, no fatal damage. But the bad news..." the nurse looks down at the floor and bites her lip. "What is it?" I ask slightly annoyed. "You may experience moments where you feel like you are in that place of pain and hurt. It's possible that your brain may be manipulated and it might actually make you feel the torture all over again. That's it, along with bad images in your mind and sever nightmares." The nurse concludes, looking nervous. "So. Toning I haven't dealt with before." I say as I rip out my IV. I don't give the nurse a chance to respond as I quickly walk-run out of the building.

"Nat." Clint's band stops me from opening the door so I can exit the building. "Hey Clint."
"So I know this might be a little soon but Fury has a mission. For you and me. Just like the old days." He smiles. "It's not just like the old days. And I'm not going." Even I realize how cold I sound. I go to make my exit again but Clint stops me once more. "Natasha come on. What's wrong? You know you have to get back into the field sometime." Clint pleads with me. "I said I'm not going." I shove him out of the way and start walking but he grabs my wrist and pulls me back to him. "Why not? What are you so afraid of?" He pesters. But I can see the look of deep concern in his eyes, and so I tell him. I tell him the truth. That I haven't even said to myself. "I can't loose him. Not again." I feel my eyes sting with tears. And that's all it takes for Clint to pull me into his chest. "Oh Tasha." Is all he can say as he tries to comfort me.

Steve:
"Another mission?" I look at fury, not believing his words. "Rogers, I know it's soon but you knew what you were signing up for." Fury states. "No, actually I didn't." I snap. "Well you at least knew that we are agents. And when the world needs saving, us agents get off of our damn asses and save the god damn world." Now it's Furys turn to get angry. "She just got back." I tell him, as my last excuse. "And she will understand that there are thousands of lives at risk." He tells me sternly. "I understand but..." I look down at the ground. "Are you afraid of something Captain?" Fury asks. "What if I... what if we, loose her again?" I ask him helplessly. "Believe me, nothing like that will ever, and you can hold me to this." Fury takes off his eye patch so that I know he is serious. "Nothing like that will EVER happen again." He finishes and then covers his eye again.
