Dearest little birdy,
There is not much that makes me cry, I like to believe I am strong enough to watch people leave and realize how little I can do about it. Today I decided to let you leave, and since it was my own decision I felt absolutely embarrassed when a few tears began to fall from my eyes.
It was hard to see you hobble away on your tiny feet and fly into the backyard. It had never occurred to me until then that perhaps I should let you go. I suppose this will be my last entry to you. It was hard to let go until I let go, and I never truly thought I would.
But I did it, and it was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.
