Chapter 35 - Crazy

(POV Rafael)

I don't know how the hell Ruri discovered my charades. I guess I have no choice but to show myself. Hunter and Nika just tapped my back as if they are giving me strength before they left.

Pagpasok ko sa maliit na space na napapalibutan ng white curtain, tinaasan lang ako ng kilay ni Ruri at mukhang di siya natutuwa sa mga nangyayari. Lumuhod ako sa harapan niya as I removed the tie on her legs.

"How did you know it was me?" tanong ko habang hawak ang kamay niya.

"The three masked men na pumasok sa kwarto, it was you, Hunter and Nika. Tama ba?"

"I am asking you, how did you know?"

"I know the smell of your perfume. Nung lumapit ka and you inject me with something, part of me umaasa na ikaw yun, but I have my doubts. Baka nagkataon lang."

"Go on, Ruri. I need more than that," sabi ko habang tinanggal ang tali niya sa kamay.

"Kinakabahan si Hunter at si Nika as if they are practicing what they need to say. Geez, they are cold blooded assassins, bakit sila kakabahan? Unless, they are just forced to do this. You forced them to do this, right?"

"What else, Ruri? You sounded confident kanina," I asked her as I kissed her hands.

"Noong una, di ko alam na andito ka. Buong akala ko, Nika and Hunter really kidnapped me. When I first shouted your name, it was actually a gamble. I am just going to read their reaction. Kung totoong kidnapping incident ito, they will be alarmed with your presence."

"And you saw right through them? Shit, I forgot that you have a Psychology degree."

"Both of them actually panicked pero para silang dalawang bata na nag-aaway gamit ang mata nila. They looked at each other as if they want to kill each other. It looks funny actually. I have a feeling that this is a kidnapping scheme and probably part of your play."

I can now imagine kung paano nag-aaway si Hunter at Nika. Bata pa lang kami, para na silang aso at puso. I can just kill them later for this...

"Anything else that you want to add?" I asked her habang nakaluhod pa rin ako sa harapan niya.

"I saw the ring, Rafael. Binuksan ko yung drawer sa hotel room natin and I found an engagement ring. Bago ka umalis, napansin ko na kinuha mo yun sa drawer. It is either mag propropose ka sa ibang tao during your so-called national security mission or may binabalak kang iba to surprise me."

"Paano mo naman nalaman na sayo yung ring na yun?" nakangiti kong tanong sa kanya.

"I saw my name engraved on the ring. I am sorry Rafael if I foiled your plans. But everything I said is true. I won't leave you even if it kills me. But both of them are literally forcing me to leave you. Gusto nilang sabihin ko na wag ka pakasalan. Are you testing me?"

"I am not testing you, Ruri. I guess I really hired two bad actors after all. I actually asked them to scare you, to force you to leave me or you will die. You are supposed to be frightened for your life."

Balak ko na mag propose kay Ruri. Hunter gave me this ridiculous idea to make it like an action flick engagement proposal. I did not agree to this at first, pero mapilit si Hunter at si Nika. They want to be part of my proposal to Ruri.

"Rafael, balak mo ko takutin?"

"Why do you think we have setup some spotlights sa likod ng curtain? You are supposed to see my fighting scenes with Nika and Hunter like a shadow performance, but those two are not reliable actors," I sighed as I kissed her hands.

"But you are also testing me, Rafael. Gusto mo din malaman if I will give you up and if I will leave you under pressure. Tama ba?"

"No Ruri, I just want you to know the real danger na kakaharapin mo if you will be married to me."

"You are clearly testing me, Rafael. Nakalimutan mo na ba na ang tatay ko ang Big Boss niyo? Kahit gusto ko man lumayo sayo, I am already part of this mess. And besides, I already told you that I won't leave you," she said as she cupped my face.

I can tell in her words and in her eyes that she loves me, that she accepted me for who I am. Hindi ko akalain na may babaeng mag mamahal sa akin ng ganito.

"Ruri, I am supposed to save you from the two of them like a hero in a fairy tale, like a knight in shining armor para unforgettable ang proposal ko sayo, but it was a failure."

"At since nakaluhod ka na, baka gusto mo na lubusin? Baka may gusto ka na sabihin?" nakangiti niyang tanong sa akin.

"Ruri Rosalind Saji, will you be wife? Today, tomorrow and even after forever?" I asked her as I gave her the engagement ring from my pocket.

"Rafael Stalford, my answer will always be yes. Wait, do you even love me?" she asked me while frowning.

"What the fuck? Of course I do love you, Ruri. I am so fucking in love with you. Will I ask you to marry me kung hindi kita mahal?"

"I just want to be sure. Baka kasi you want to marry me as your fuck buddy lang," naka pout niyang sagot.

"Ruri, I want to marry you because I love you. Sa bawat araw na magkasama tayo, I am falling more in love with you. I think you need to bring me to a psychiatric ward after ten years as I will be going crazy for you," sabi ko as I kissed her forehead.

"Corny mo, Rafael. Why don't you just shut up and kiss me?" bulong niya sa akin before kissing my lips.
