Katelyn's Pov:

I walked along the beach only dimly paying attention to Savannah's conversation behind me. I approached the two boys who were building a beautiful sand city.

"Well don't just stand there sand civilizations don't build themselves!" I jumped as a voice that wasn't mine entered my head.

"What?" I gasped placing a hand on my head. I heard a smack and realized Bear had hit his own face. He then glared at me before returning to his project.

"It was telepathy, we can all talk to each other in our heads," Clark stated as he stood up and guided me over to their city.

"Our telepathy is limited to a certain radius when in use, Savannah claims to feel all the minds like us in the world, so she doesn't use it often," Bear growled as he pointed in the direction of his sister.

That's neat!" I said while turning to face the speck that was Savannah and her mother. I tried speaking telepathically to Savannah and it worked! She responded back fairly quickly and I turned back to the boys.

"This is awesome!" I cheered with enthusiasm. The boys exchanged glances their faces contorting like they just ate something sour or foul. Suddenly they burst out laughing and I was extremely confused.

"We'll explain everything later," Clark said as he saw the look on my face. He helped me step over the moat and wall. This city was just a huge group of mounds of sand. The largest mound of sand was connected to the wall and I couldn't help cocking an eyebrow at the sticks and shells poked throughout the place.

"Have you ever been to this beach?" Bear asked sadly with a hint of nostalgia trailing through his voice. He was sitting just outside the wall watching the water lap at his feet. The water itself edging closer and closer to the sand village.

"No, I've never really been outside the woods around my house..." I admitted staring out at the vast open space across the water from us. Clark showed me how to form the square sand huts with a container and I helped him to improve on the city.

It was all going wonderfully until a terrible girly scream came from Bear. Clark and I looked up in time to see Bear sit up and jump up really fast. The tide had reached Bear and the city. Savannah and her mom ran up out of concerned and Savannah broke out laughing as she saw her brother.

"Did I forget to mention worlds highest tides?" She asked between her wild attempts at catching her breath. She fell on the ground holding her breath and her mother comforted her as she gasped and giggled on the ground.

"Great!" Bear growled as he threw his hands up in the air. He watched the sand structure start to crumbled and he started trying to force the water away from it using what appeared to be some form of water element; Clark started holding the sand up with his hands.

Once I got close enough to Savannah the air seemed clearer but much more forced. She always had that different air pressure around her, but now it was clear that the elements were a major part of this family. I sat down next to Savannah and we watched the tide come in.

The boy's efforts quickly became futile. Slowly their hard work crumbled away. Savannah watched her brothers with sad contemplation as it all disappeared. The final straw for Bear was the wave that broke off an entire section of wall. Bear was knee deep by the time he realized he had failed. Clark watched his brother from a safe distance as Bear's face contorted between sad to angry.

"You couldn't have reinforced the wall instead of talking eh?" He demanded, scowling between me and Clark.

"It's not their fault the tide came in!" Vannah stated in our defence as she jumped up from the sand. Sand blew in my face and I started coughing. The air around me shifted and the sand in my throat was pulled out by a current of air. Savannah mouthed sorry as I stood up; I shrugged in indifference.

"Children! We're on the run from people who would likely torture and dissect you guys, let's not tear our allies apart." Mom scolded using the first half of dads favourite saying.

"Let's not tear our allies apart so that our enemies have our victory." Clark finished while lightly punching his brother.

"Good, Savannah did you make the adjustments necessary?" Mom asked while turning to her eldest who nodded.

"Yes, mom and it's been tested as well." She replied passing the baby she had been telekinetically holding back to her mother.

"Well then let's get to our vehicles and prepare to leave." Her mom ordered with her gentle motherly tone as she signalled for the boys to follow. Savannah grabbed my hand and led me back up the beach where Budgie sat. She unpacked the backpack and activated it before proceeding to get back in the car.

A/N:

The sand castle was somewhat based off one I made with my brothers.
