Katelyn's Pov:

Savannah wasn't missing much, this was one of the States that took the most damage from the war. Survivors in these areas were crazy, always complaining that the aliens caused the war.

I peeked behind me and saw the pair happily jogging behind me. I knew now that Bud was a seeing eye dog, but I knew that they were rare and hard to get. Bud smiled at me with a big puppy grin and I turned around and kept going.

A few people would stop and stare at us but other than that they hardly glanced our way. We walked into a little shop and bought more food supplies the clerk throwing them into a paper bag. The clerk kept his eyes trained on mine hardly glancing at Savannah. We exited the shop and continued our walk in the hopes of finding some other goodies to buy.

"I don't like this," Savannah mumbled under her breathe. I nodded understandingly and we turned back. This time as we were returning someone stopped in front of us abruptly. Savannah started to trip but I caught her.

"You kids look rich!" He said smiling as he stared at us.

"Oh really?" Savannah said as Budgie led her to him.

"Canadian eh?" He said in his American accent and I broke out laughing at his mockery. Savannah frowned and unclipped the safety harness from Budgie.

"Proudly Canadian." She growled in response to his question.

"So your a blind Canadian teen out here with your friend and a puppy?" He snorted while grabbing towards her arm. I gasped when with exact precision she escaped his arm and punched him in the gut.

"What! Are you really blind?" He demanded angrily.

"Yes I really am, but I have trained myself to identify wind fluctuations and sounds, and when you flail like a manatee it makes things a lot easier," Savannah responded while closing her eyes and evading his punch. Another person came out of the alley and I easily escaped from him.

"You're coming with us!" The first man shouted as he tried to grab Savannah along with the second man. Savannah flipped backwards and rolled down the second man's back landing on all fours. She stood up and smiled and I saw toned muscles waiting to be put into use.

The two men tried approaching from different angles but right as they did that Savannah punched the first one in the face clearly knocking him out. The second man gasped but kept circling her. Savannah, having kept her blind eyes closed this entire time, punched the second man in the face knocking one of his teeth clean from his mouth.

Savannah then clipped her harness back onto Budgie who had been patiently panting off to the side. The two of them stretched a little and then walked back to my side.

I led the way through the woods and heaved a heavy sigh of relief once we reached a safe clearing. Savannah turned her powers back on and reactivated the machine. It turned back into a car, and Savannah got in and put the key in the ignition. I did the same,  right as it was transforming into a bird I heard voices rapidly heading in our direction.

We flew up into a tree and caught our breath. Several people stepped out of the forest with guns. They started searching the area thoroughly for any clues as to where we could be.

Savannah didn't look surprised she just flipped the force field button on and took off.

"They were following us as soon as we entered that little shop at the end of the street. The clerk was one of them he called in back up." Savannah admitted sadly. Her face stared blankly to the front as she flew the bird.
