Bear and I hugged one another tightly as the car lifted involuntarily and I turned off what remained of my super sight. Bear started mumbling under his breath. The vehicle shook violently as it left the water and into the air. We slowed down a little before the vehicle came to a complete stop mid-air.
"Well, are you guys getting out any time soon?" A familiar voice asked and when I turned my super sight back on I saw Katelyn with her hands outstretched struggling to magnetically hold the car up. Bear telepathically told me not to say a word as he climbed out of the car. Kate's father helped him out and mom wrapped him in a blanket.
I crawled over to the hood and manually activated self-destruct, before sliding off into the car and bringing the crucial data with me.
"Drop it, Kate," I said and Kate complied it was just hitting the surface when it imploded sending shockwaves for what must feel like the entire planet. Cara hardly budged as the force field stayed intact. I gently rubbed the little box from the car before pushing it in Cara's data banks. Several screens worth of holographic memories and research popped up before disappearing again.
My family got themselves comfortable on the large mattresses in the back. Neko and Budgie already knew the drill. Seeing the stupid cat made me remember I had almost forgotten he had been in the trunk of the car.
Neko must have jumped out at some point while I was initializing the self-destruct. I was thankful that the mute feline had escaped because Neko had meant a lot to my father.
I took control of the ship once again and flew us to safety where we could spend the night. I activated the nighttime mode and let my friend and her father have the front beds which I activate from the chairs which could revert to single mattresses, while I went to tend to my family.
If it had of been left to me alone; the cat, Bear, and I would all be dead right now. Perhaps it was worthwhile to bring Kate and her father along.
