"Yes?" George grinned. "Even after everything my brother did?"
"Yeah!" I looked surprised. "You're not Fred, you're George, a completely different person! Just because your brothers an idiot doesn't mean you are!"
He smiled. "Thanks. Well, bye then!" He walked away with a spring in his step. I just beamed. I actually had a date to the ball! * A month until the ball...
It was a month before the big day and I still didn't have a dress.
I didn't want to ask Auntie Andromeda. She was already taking me in like her own child.
My parents. Well, I'll let you work that one out yourself.
My savings were running low after Christmas. Looks like my only option was to ask Auntie Andromeda.
* She said it was fine, no need to worry and she insisted I didn't need to pay her back. She said since I wasn't allowed in Hogsmeade yet she'd send me a catalogue to chose from and then she'd order it for me.
I replied via owl with, "Thank you, see you in July!" And then 2 days later a magazine arrived with a handsome owl that my own looked away at and sniffed because it was being so snobby. I giggled.
I sat now pouring over the glossy catalogue. There was page after page of breathtaking dresses, each more extravagant the other. There was even one made purely of gold!
I decided to pick the one that was red, with gold embroidery on the bodice. I also picked out some accessories to match;

I sent the magazine to my aunt with the page numbers circled and she replied that she'd ordered the dress and it would be delivered next week. Sorted. * 3 weeks until the ball...
The dress arrived yesterday and when I took it out of the wrappings I knew right away I had made the right choice.
It looked exactly as it had done in the catalogue, but better.
I was finally ready for this ball. *
Yay!!
