Andrew Dylan Harrison was six when the world ended. He is the younger brother to Andrea and Amy Harrison. He was living with them at the time when the world ended. Andrew is the youngest at the camp by four years and his illness doesn't help him...
"No." Andrea's roommate Sandy rejected me immediately.
"This isn't up for debate." Andrea folds her arms. I wiggle my toes on the soft carpet as I take in the dorm room. It was clean but tiny.
"Let the kid stay." Andrea's other roommate Tabitha gives me a smile. "He can't be much trouble."
"I'll be good." I pipe up. "I promise."
I clasp my hands together as I beg. "Please?"
Sandy's eyes soften a little. "Fine. But if he gets in my stuff, I'm tossing him out."
"Thank you." Andrea was sincere, grabbing my hand and pulling me further into the dorm room.
"I'll have to take you to class with me. We should have grabbed you some coloring books or something at Walmart." Andrea tells me, throwing my duffel onto one of the beds. She tosses my blue backpack after it. "Are you up for going to class today?" She questioned. "Just four hours."
I let out a nod, even though I was tired. I could sleep in class, I'm sure.
Andrea slips her backpack onto her shoulders, she then picks me up, not bothering to shove my new shoes onto my feet or change me out of my pajamas. "Tabitha has class with me." Andrea informs me.
I nod as she carries me down the hallway and out of the girls dormitory.
A lot of people stare at us as Andrea carries me through the hallways of the school. She opens the door to one of the classrooms. It was completely empty except for a balding man who sat at the front.
"Good morning Andrea." He greets. "Who's this?"
"This is my younger brother, Andrew. He's staying with me for the time being." Andrea tells him.
"Now Andrea, you know that the dormitories have a strict 'no pets allowed' policy." He grins, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
"Andrew, this is Mr. Toman." She sets me down at one of the desks before taking a seat in the desk next to me.
Other people begin to trickle into the classroom, staring at me oddly as they take their seat.
"Class!" Mr. Toman gathers their attention as the class starts. "This is Andrew. He's Andrea's little brother. He will be joining us today."
Murmurs go around the classroom before Mr. Toman starts to teach.
I didn't understand a lot of what he said but Andrea gave me a piece of paper and a pen to doodle with.
I doodle until my eyes are too heavy to keep open.
"Andrea." I whisper, tugging on her sweater. She hums in acknowledgement, eyes still trained on the board in the front of the room. "I'm cold."
Andrea's eyes break away from the board and turn towards me, her hand traveling to my forehead.
I sometimes got small fevers from the medications.
"You aren't hot. How do you feel?" She questioned.
"I'm okay. Just cold." I mumble.
Andrea sheds her sweater, leaving herself in her tank top. She helps my arms through the holes of the sweaters before pulling me into her lap.
Without another word from her, she focuses on the board again. I lean my head against her chest, now warm and content.
