I'VE BEEN SPOILING YOU WITH UPDATES.
Before the world ended, Maggie Greene had plans.
Before the world ended, Maggie Greene didn't plan on being a mother of an eight year old at twenty-three.
She never expected to fall in love with a little boy that Beth found in the stables.
Andrew Dylan Harrison was his name. He was six years old and got separated from his group.
And boy, did he love attention.
And when Maggie met his sister, she knew why.
Andrea may of been equipped to handle Andrew before the dead started to walk but certainly not now.
She lost her sister, her family, everyone but Andrew. He briefly told her about Andrea.
Then she realized that he had no schooling. He didn't know his numbers or the alphabet.
Not that it would be very useful in the apocalypse.
She remembers the day that Beth tried to end her life.
She won't ever know what went down in that bathroom but Andrew stopped her younger sister from ending her life. She broke down the door and he was kneeling with her, putting pressure on her wrist and stroking her hair.
Then he told her how Andrea tried to hurt herself at the CDC.
She couldn't believe that Andrea would be so selfish as to leave her brother behind until Andrew told her that she made him stay with her until Glenn took him away.
Maggie thought of him as the little brother that she never had.
But that changed when he had a major panic attack.
Maggie can remember how stunned she was when Andrew was hiding under the bed, crying and begging for his mother.
And Michonne calls her his 'Ma'
Maggie didn't think that she was mother material. Not of an eight year. She was just a little over twenty. But Andrew had lost all other family and was trying to secure connections.
And by him calling her 'Ma', he would feel more secure.
And if calling Maggie, Ma made him feel secure, she would do it.
So she rolled with it.
And she grew to love him like a son.
Andrew seemed a little more cautious of Glenn. He didn't accept him into the father roll.
And Maggie knew that Glenn felt awkward with Andrew calling her Ma.
But when Andrew called him Daddy in a haze of a fever, Glenn realized that he didn't mind it.
And like that, their little family was complete.
But Maggie made mistakes parenting. She tried to remember how her Daddy did it but the world was different. Glenn taught him how to wield a knife and Daryl taught him how to survive.
He knew how to use a gun pretty soon after that.
He grew up in such a small amount of time. He stopped sucking his thumb and only really let Glenn or Maggie carry him, sometimes, Abraham.
It killed Maggie when the Governor took him.
It hurt her when Terminus separated them.
She cried when Deanna took him from them.
She panicked when he went over the wall.
Maggie kept losing her son.
And when she told him that she was pregnant, she lost him a little more.
But they were getting better until Rick told her to hide secrets from him.
He wasn't to know about Hilltop.
Maggie pleaded with Rick to be able to tell him.
What if something happened to Alexandria? He needed somewhere safe to go.
He wasn't to know about Hilltop and he wasn't to know about the Negan situation.
Maggie doesn't remember that night very clearly, her memory fuzzy from the fever she sported.
She remembers being in the RV. She remembers Andrew talking to her softly, holding her hand.
She remembers Glenn's death.
She remembers two people who took a liking to Andrew.
She remembers hugging Carl.
But she had a bunch of blank spots that only information could fill.
She was desperate when she woke up at Hilltop. She looks for her son but he's not there.
She's told that he's gone.
That Negan took him.
The man that broke her family in a matter of seconds.
That the people who liked him were his biological parents.
He screamed at Negan for killing Glenn.
And it kills her to know that Andrew screamed for her as they took him.
And now, Maggie was safe and sound. Healthy, full and safe.
And her baby boy is out there with a crazed murderer and his abusive parents.
She feels like she's failed.
As a parent.
As a person.
But she'll get him back.
She promises, that even if it kills her, that she'll save him from those monsters.
She'll fight because she wasn't going to give up on him. Not like many others did.
So it'll be okay, Andrew. Don't you worry.
Ma is coming.
