[C A R A 'S P O V]
I continue to patiently stand with Nancy while we chatted for a while to help ease her jittery nerves. Nancy quickly regains herself and continues to distract herself by keeping the conversation going. At one point I did zone out and instead stared at the surroundings and watched the less crowded room stand in circles and groups while chatting away. Some seemed grossed out and some really interested and excited while a few were wildly speaking of the guys in the ring. I quickly remind myself to meet 'Zueez' before leaving to make sure if the guy was alright. I was clearly zoned out and even if Nancy caught it, she didn't bother to call me out as Reggie makes his way. Nancy almost instantly sighs in relief to see Reggie grinning wildly. "Here." He says while a thousand my way. My eyebrows scrunch up in confusion. "I lied about 100. I may have taken like 500?" He says grinning sheepishly. I swear I will rip this guys limb apart piece by piece. "You blindly bet on this guy with so much money? We could've lost so much money!" My voice comes out harsher and sharper than the one I had in mind but it does what it is supposed to do, get Reggie scared. "But we didn't lose! And I didn't blindly bet! Jax is one of the best. Actually he is the best here." He says before getting his head smacked by Nancy. Crap. "You bet with money on the fighter? What's wrong with you?" She says impatiently and furiously. Reggie looks extremely uncomfortable with the flip of tables and I can't help but chuckle at his discomfort.
I see a few people usher the beaten up newbie in a stretcher to a room. The people part for the guy and from the way he seems to be laying there, it doesn't seem like he seems to be in a great condition. I walk over to the medics who are huddled around the guy. "What's his status?" Reggie asks and I continue to see the medics wipe away the wounds on the newbie. "He seems pretty beaten up and unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anyone with him tonight." The medic says to us. My heart sinks at the words and before I can think my words are already speaking, "I'm with him." I say quickly and Reggie and Nancy stare at me with wide eyes. "Oh okay! Good. He needs a little cash and we need to take him to the hospital because this guy seems pretty beaten up." The medic says and I nod. "How much?" My teeth is ripping my bottom lips apart. "Just around 1000?" The medic says after discussing with the others. I nod and hand the medics 1500 just in case. I had given away all my savings, all my money for this stranger that I had no clue of. "What's the name?" The medic asks while pulling out a board and paper. "Urm-" I stutter. Do I want my name in there? "The patients name, ma'am." The medic says impatiently and I look at Reggie and Nancy with panic who just shrugs their shoulder in response. You are own your own. "Kevin, his name is Kevin." A husky low voice cuts my thoughts. My head snaps towards the source of voice and I swallow a huge lump that's growing. Jax. "Maam, your name?" The medics ask and I shrug. "Just put it anonymous. Contact me using this number and just let me know if he needs anything and if he's fine." I say and the medics agree and leave with the newbie.
"Why the fuck did you do that?" Reggie asks like I'm stupid. I honestly don't know. "You are like the stupidest!" Nancy says and I shrug. Can't disagree with that. "What if he's a really scary dude and if he hates help or some shit? What if he hunts you down?" Nancy asks rambling on and on. "It doesn't matter, the guy was pretty beaten up and it's not like he knows me or anything. I can't just walk away from that." I say softly while closing my eyes and composing myself. What we failed to notice was that Jax was still right there, listening to everything we said. "I think it's nice what she did." Jax says softly and his eyes briefly meet mine and I feel like I'm drowning in his eyes and I blink quickly. His face is hard and the calm and nice character looked like a figment of my imagination. "Thank-" I'm about to continue but I see his figure dissappear into the rooms in the poorly lit hallways and stop. My eyes are met with a surprised face and then one I had stared to despise. "Wow, Cara. Didn't know you still were the nursing and caring nun that you are." Delivigne says while one eyebrow stays up and an arrogant smile playing on her lips.
