Mom didn't notice anything off about me when we returned. The boys and I promised to keep everything a secret. Nancy covered up my face with make up to make sure mom didn't see the bruises. I see my disheveled body staring back at me in the mirror and I let out a painful sigh.

Thank God for make up.

I finally cuddle into bed after the long day and wait for sleep to overtake my heavy body. I wait for minutes, hours and then I realise that this is one of those days where sleep and I don't agree to each other. I trudge into the kitchen after a lot of thinking and realise Will and mom are fast asleep. I take this as my cue for a late night walk.

I play music and walk, aimlessly towards wherever my legs take me. I drown myself in lyrics and beats and rhythms till my subconscience is awoken again. I find myself standing in the train station. I close my eyes and listen to the cold air, I'm wearing Aiden's shirt and sweatpants.

One day, one day I will board the train and leave. Leave for a while or maybe for good. Away from the person I was here. Away from all the people. I will board the train and leave.

I sit a few minutes in the train station and watch the people around me and wonder what their stories are. I wonder if anyone is running. I watch families, business women, drunk friends and I let out a heavy sigh.

No one is trying to run except you.

My eyes finally land on a boy who's of my age, maybe even older. He has a hood covering most of him. His hair jet black and luring but I notice how frantic he looks. He has two bags, one slung around his shoulder and the other one held tightly in his hand. From the way his head is whipping around, it looks like he's running.

His knuckles are bruised and dry blood still evident. His legs are restless. I hear the distant sound of the train arriving. I remove my gaze from the boy and watch the train arrive. Everyone shuffles into the train. The boy turns to check one last time before sweeping his hands through his hair.

I see his hood fall off his face and his jawline is prominent and he looks angry and shaken up. My eyes widen at the boy. I know him! I know him! He steps into the train after everyone and his eyes do a quick scan of the train station before sweeping through mine.

Did he see me? Why the fuck is he on a train? Aiden's cold eyes rest on my face before he does a small salute with a slight smile and that's when I notice the train move. He's running. Aiden is on a run. I stand up quickly but the train has already picked up speed.

Seems like you are not the only one running.

I've reached home before both Will and Mom have woken up. I decide against pretending to have woken up and make myself some cereal. My mind still stuck from what happened last night.

Is that the last I will ever see of Aiden Jackson? What is he running from? Where did he go? Should've paid attention to the speakers in the train station. Is that all?

"You are up early, aren't you?" Mom says while trudging lazily into the kitchen in her pink and flowery night dress. I plaster a smile on my face. "I'm a morning person, mom. Get used to it." I say and she let's out a soft laughing. "You sure are different from all the others." She says and starts to busy herself with kitchen work.
