[ C A R A 'S P O V ]
It's been three days since Aiden ran away. Classes don't seem fun anymore. I miss eating cupcakes during class and talking about nonsensical stuff with the big bad boy. Reggie has started to ease back into being himself again. "Miss Leviane, please pay attention in class." My teacher says to me as I exit the class. I nod.
"I've been noticing how you've been slacking off this week. You are a smart student and I hope that will not change, Miss Leviane." She says and I nod obediently. I need to get back to acting like little miss perfect before people get a glimpse of the ugly little girl inside. The teacher dismisses me and I realise that in done for the day. I head to my locker and see Reggie and Nancy talk about something animatedly.
"Let's go home!" Reggie says and I nod. We decided to have a sleepover since its been a while. Mrs Reinhartt has been sad and out of it lately so we are on a mission to trying to cheer her up.
"Are the boys having a sleepover too?" I ask Reggie who then looks at Nancy; "I don't think so. Dustin will be there at home." She says and I grin at this. I loved the boys a lot like they were my own. "Did you guys bring clothes?" Reggie asks and I shake my head. Nancy shrugs, "My clothes are already at your place, Babe."
I grimace when she says Babe. This makes Reggie and Nancy laugh at me but I ignore them with a scowl replacing my features. We bicker around for a while in the car till we settle for some music in the car.
"I got a million trillion things that I'd rather fucking do." Reggie and I scream on top of our lungs. Nancy hides her face. "Atleast reduce the volume you guys! People can hear!" She pleads but both of us hold our middle fingers out and continue to screech. "I DON'T GIVE A FUCK." I wave my hands like I'm in a concert.
"I don't give a fuck. I don't give a fuck. I don't. I don't I don't give a fuck bitch. I don't give a fuck about you or anything that you do." Reggie sings the solo this time. The music turnt to the highest. "OHMYGOD." Nancy says and taps my shoulder. I turn to see Mrs Reinhartt folding her hands and give a stern look at Reggie from the steps.
"Oh crap." I say. "I ain't fucking with you!" Reggie screams and then turns to me. "Why aren't you singing along?" He asks and I motion for him to look to his door step. Reggie stills completely. Someone is in big big trouble. Oops.
"Reggie Alexander Reinhartt." Mrs Reinhartt says while fuming. If looks could kill, yeah... we'd all be six feet under.
"Girls, get inside. I need to talk to Reggie." She says with an air of finality. We give sympathetic looks to Reggie and head upstairs. "Cara?" I freeze on the steps and go to Mrs Reinhartt. Oh sheet.
"I know you were singing along with him but this is your last warning young lady. Is that clear? The both of you are spoilt teenagers. Nancy is a pure beautiful girl. Atleast do the courtesy of not spoiling that innocent girl." She says sternly. I nod quickly and silently.
"We are sorry, mom. We promise not to repeat this again." Reggie says softly with his head bent down. I nod and plaster a puppy dog eyes and Reggie does the same. She sighs with defeat. "Fine. Go have fun, kids. Order some take out. I'll be out the whole night. I've got work. Take care, kids." She says. We grin widely and kiss her cheeks before hurrying up the stairs.
I see her shake her head slightly and chuckle softly. Mrs Reinhartt could be a terror but she was only like this because of the lack of presence of a fatherly figure in Reggie's life. Sure Mr Reinhartt is alive but he was always too busy to be home and he was always abroad. Countries away.
