[ C A R A' S POV ]
It's been more than a week since the whole get away from the library. Aiden and I haven't had a decent conversation and somehow we never got to cross paths for more than a few minutes. All we got were stolen secretive glances and small shy smiles. Those were mostly from me. I mean what more could you expect from me? Aiden and I had the hottest make out session I have ever had and somehow whenever I'm alone in my room, that memory lingers for too long.
"Care bear. This is the millionth time you are zoning out." Reggie says in all seriousness. I roll my eyes at him. "And it's the millionth time you are shoving your tongue down her throat. Give it a break." I quickly retort. Nancy shakes her head softly. "We are just being worried." She says carefully. Why are you such a bitch to the only people who genuinely try to be there for you? "Sorry." I mumble. "What's it bout this time?" Reggie asks while softly probing my head with his finger. I feel a laugh escape my lips. "Just things." I say vaguely. Reggie and Nancy share a look. I groan immediately. I hate their secret telepathic communication. It made me feel so left out. I pout and wait for them to spill. "Whaaaaat?" I groan and they laugh. "Is it the secret rendezvou with Mr fighter boy?" Nancy says. I shake my head. Yeah. I obviously told my best friends about it. There was only so much I could lie to them about and I sure as hell did not want any secrets between us.
We hear the bell go off in the distance. I had a free hour so I decide to go pop by the library and assist Maggie while I can. Reggie and Nancy wave me off while walking hand in hand. A little jealousy courses through my veins when I see them like that but it doesn't get the best of me. I see people rushing to their respective classes while I slowly walk to the library. "Hey favourite student of mine." Miss Maggie says with a wide smile on her face. "What's up?" I say while leaning against the counter.
"Aiden hasn't stepped foot into this library since he striked that deal and one week is the longest he has ever gone. This is a record." She says. I did notice he never stepped foot here again. A part of me was disappointed and a part of me didn't expect anything from him. "Scouts honor to be truthful." I say while mocking the stance. She let's out a little laugh. "I've got some work to attend to. Can you look after the place while I'm gone?" She asks and I nod. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. This is the most quiet and calm I can get and I have started to embrace it whole heartedly.
"Your wish is my command." I say while placing my bag on the counter and taking her seat. She nods and walks away hurriedly. The lady was sweet as they can be. I go through the drawers below the desk and realise the bottom one is jammed. I had stored my candy and the book I was reading there. My lucky day I guess. I groan and get off the chair. Slowly sinking to the floor. Making sure no one was seeing this happen.
I quickly get on my knees and start to push and pull against the drawer. Its stuck, damnit. I heave a sigh and gather my breath. I yank the drawer free and the whole drawer comes flying off. A voice clears their throat and I hit my head against the desk in a hurry. "Ouch." I say while slowly peeping up.
"Hey-" the cocky voice starts but immediately a grin replaces his face. He leans against the counter as his face lights up with fascination. I groan and cover my face with shame. The one time I get to see him after the steamy make out session was like this. Great luck. "What are you upto, cupcake?" Aiden says and I shrug. Trying to be nonchalant. Gathering up myself and the items from the floor.
"I'm surprised you are here." I say while sitting on the chair. Regaining my posture and senses. "I could say the same." He says while standing up straight. His wolfish smile playing on his lips. I blink slowly. Gulping with all my effort. Why was it so hard to face him now? "Is that toblerone?" He asks and his face lights up again. I slowly follow his gaze and nod. "Its my favourite." I say slowly and hold it to him.
