[ R E G G I E'S POV ]
Nancy and I stand beside Wendy as we help her in the kitchen. Cara had been holed up in her bedroom. Always quick to disperse us. Something had changed since the past few days. Like the switches on her had been different. Like her whole machine was jammed. We'd catch her staring into nothing more frequently, she'd either binge on food or skip, she would sleep for hours straight or won't sleep a wink. Will sits opposite us. His eyes watching the stairs expectantly. She managed to shut him out as well. Something has been off a lot.
We couldn't get a hint no matter how hard we tried. But one thing was for sure. Cara was avoiding Aiden like the plague. She would try her best to avoid laying her eyes on him. Aiden must've noticed but he was more subtle. Cara would quickly walk the other way at the sight of him or move seats just so she could avoid him. Aiden didn't ask me about it. He seemed to have avoided talking about it as well.
"Babe? Can you go check on her again?" Nancy asks and I nod. I walk up to her room. Will following me. I knock the door. "Care bear?" I say softly. I hear shuffling behind the door which quickly stops. Shes probably pretending to sleep. "Do you really want us gone?" I ask and I see her shadow close to the door. I knew she did nothing to hurt us intentionally but she was a little hard to handle.
Will and I share feel defeated. Our shoulders slouching. We decide to retrieve back to the kitchen when I hear very soft words. 'I am sorry.'
I heave a sigh and pretend to have not heard anything. Nancy and I spend a few minutes by Wendy and will before we decide to go back to my place. We bid goodbye loud enough for Cara to hear till her room. We walk out hand in hand. Nancy gives me a small smile to cheer me up. I share her smile as I tighten my grip on her hand.

Nancy and I are sprawled on the bed and floor. Books in front of us. We flip through the pages half heartedly. "I miss Cara so much." Nancy sighs. I nod. It felt weird without her for so long. "You think we drove her away?" She asks sitting up on the bed. I think about it. "How?" I ask. "With us constantly being together?" She asks and I think about it.
"I guess it makes sense. It did start becoming just the two of us." I say and she nods. Guilt evident in her face. "Wow. I never really thought about how it would make her feel." I say. Fuck. That definitely made us look selfish. "Oh that reminds me." I say and stand up. Nancy watches me curiously. "Cara has been acting off since the time she went for that weird exclusive party thing right?" I ask and Nancy nods slowly. "Maybe Aiden can help that way." I say and she shrugs. "I'm willing to try anything." She says and I nod understanding what she meant. I decide to go confront Aiden.
I walk to the guest room which has now turned into his room. It was once her room. "Aiden?" I knock at his door. "Yeah. You can get in bro." Aiden replies almost breathlessly. Nancy raises her eyebrow. Eskh. Such a dirty mind. I open the door only to reveal a sweaty Aiden on the floor doing push ups.
"What's up?" He asks not looking at either of us. I see Nancy check Aiden out. I roll my eyes at her. He was shirtless and only in shorts. This guy might as well have been naked to her. "I've got to ask about Cara." I ask. Aiden freezes at the mention of her name. I look to Nancy to see she had noticed it too. "What about her?" He asks. Nancy continues to ogle at him. I smack her arm lightly. "Maybe you should sit this one out." I say. Partly because I wanted him to avoid dodging questions and because I didn't want my girlfriend making googly eyes at him.
