Lasting Love

Jordan

After parking the Yukon Jordan returned to the passenger side of the suv ,opening the door he once again offered his hand to Jordyn .After securing the vehicle Jordan held her hand as they walked through the familiar door. A young woman greeted them as her eyes widened in recognition of Jordan. Before she could utter a peep Jordan placed a finger to his lips indicating that she needn't   cause a scene .

She seated them in the furthest secluded booth.

Once seated and a drink order taken they were left alone , for a few minutes anyway.

Repeating a long ago action Jordan hooked his arm around her waist, gently pulling Jordyn toward him.

It felt like they had never been apart.

Jordyn wanted to bury herself in his warmth and never leave it.

"So why are you retiring ?" she asked him bluntly.

"It's time I guess " Jordan shrugged.

The waitress returned with their drinks , took their order which surprisingly hadn't changed .

The appetizer sampler plate with cheesy waffle fries. It was the very same platter they'd shared what seemed like a million times. He'd always devour the wings ,Jordyn claimed the deep fried mushrooms , they'd split the mozzarella sticks and popcorn shrimp along with the fries.

While they waited for their food Jordyn cleared her throat as she zeroed in on what played on her mind for almost two decades.

"Why didn't you ever come back like we talked about ? Like you promised J?"

"I already explained that " He reminded her quietly.

"I just can't wrap my head around it Jordan.We had plans , dreams .When you left you took them with you "

"Jordy " he sighed emotionally

"Baby I guess I lost my way . So much was going on with the writing , recording , rehearsals ,the shows .Then of course the fans and what the media put out there.There were so many lies so many stories I didn't want to put you through that .Then Emily " Jordan stopped short shaking his head as he took a drink from his glass as the waitress set the platters in front of them.Popping a french fry into her mouth Jordyn listened intently as he explained his reasoning for shutting her out , allowing Emily in .The cheating ,separations , her announcement she was pregnant with DJ . Emily was catholic so a baby out of wedlock was out of the question she'd told him. She'd be disgraced she told him.Her parents would disown her.Jordan thought Emily would help buffer the pain of losing his best friend and first love. Jordan explained further .

Although she understood his reasoning Jordyn was more than happy to tell him his choices were shitty ones as well as what she thought were forced by Emily.Jordan quietly listened as she quietly went off on him. He knew she had every right and he felt like the biggest ass for allowing it to happen.

Jordan ordered refills on their drinks when the waitress walked past again as he listened intently to words he knew Jordy had been holding in for far too long.Once she said her peace Jordyn excused herself to the ladies room .

While she was gone Jordan used his phone to research the student information of  the school.
