White. That was the only thing Thea could see when she opened her eyes. Bright, blinding white.
She squinted her eyes, sitting up carefully from what she realized was a bed. An actual bed with blankets and pillows and everything. Glancing around, Thea tried to get her bearings.
She was in a white room with only one door with a small round window. Several tubes feeding different liquids were stuck into her arm. Wincing, she carefully pulled the tubes out, unsure of what was being put into her system.
Thea swung her legs over the side of the bed. She noticed that she too, was dressed in all white with a white tank top and white shorts. Her feet were bare and she jerked them back up as they touched the cold floor. Her head pounded and she had to lean against the pillows as the memories of what had happened at the dropship came rushing back. Her mind swirled with questions as she realized she couldn't remember anything after walking out of the dropship and seeing the destruction they had caused.
Where was she? Where were the rest of the hundred? How had she gotten here?
Questions flew through her mind as she glanced around again, trying to spot any indication of where she might be. There was nothing. Just unending, blinding white.
Placing her feet carefully on the floor, the girl stood unsteadily, making her way to the door. She stood on her toes to see out the small window, noticing an identical door across the hall from her. The room seemed to be empty, however, no sign of movement could be seen from inside.
Scared and overwhelmed, Thea slid down the wall until she was sitting on the cold floor. She hugged her knees to her chest, looking around the room for what felt like the millionth time. But this time she noticed something. In the corner of the room, near the ceiling, there was a small black camera, it's dark tone contrasting against the rest of the room. How she hadn't noticed it before, she didn't know. But she glared up at it, knowing now that someone must be watching her. She scowled up at the camera, flipping her middle finger up at it before slumping against the wall again.
The sound of approaching feet outside her room startled her and she jumped to her feet, taking a defensive stance as an old man and a younger girl entered the room.
"It's okay," the man assured, "we're not here to hurt you. We saved you."
Thea glared suspiciously at the man as he took a careful step forward.
"My name is Dante Wallace. This is Maya," he gestured to the girl.
Thea didn't relax, staring between the two as she eyed to unlocked door behind them.
"You can relax, Thea. You're safe here," the man assured her.
Thea's eyes snapped to the man's face. "How do you know my name?" she snapped.
"Your people told me."
"My..." she trailed off, deciding to ask a different question instead. "Where am I? What is this place?"
The man chuckled. "This is Mount Weather, of course. Don't worry, we've built a safe environment from the outside world and the savages in here, you'll be perfectly safe."
"Where are my friends?" she demanded.
"You can see them now if you'd like," he told her. "You've been cleared from quarantine so I've brought Maya here to take you to them. They'll be very happy to see you. They've been asking for you."
Thea squinted at the man but he didn't seem to be lying. She nodded cautiously and the girl, Maya, held out a pile of clothes for her.
"Here, you can change into these and then I'll show you to where your friends are."
Thea hesitated but took the clothes. The two left her alone to change and she did so quickly before knocking sharply on the door which opened to reveal that the man had left and only Maya stood waiting for her.
Thea followed behind the girl, her eyes darting around looking for a way to escape in case she was attacked. They made it to a door from behind which Thea could hear happy chatter.
Maya opened the door and the sound of voices died down before one familiar one spoke up.
"Thea?"
The girl didn't even have time to react as Jasper launched himself towards her, pulling her into his arms as he laughed happily.
"I'm so glad you're okay. We've all missed you," the boy told her as he set her back on her feet.
Thea was smiling as she looked around the room, seeing most of her friends alive and well. "I've missed you too."
Monty approached her next, wrapping his arms around her as she buried her head into his shoulder. One by one, the remainder of the hundred cane forward to greet her. Even some of the kids she was less familiar with were happy to see her. As the commotion died down, a lone figure approached slowly.
Clarke smiled softly at the girl as she walked towards her. Thea raised her eyebrows, asking a silent question that both girls already knew the answer to. Clarke shook her head sadly before opening her arms. Thea fell into them, nearly sobbing as she realized that Clarke was the last of them. No one else was going to appear from the shadows. And while she was beyond happy that everyone in the room had made it out alive, her mind couldn't help but wander to the one person she had hoped to see most.
Her heart ached as she held onto the small blonde girl who gripped onto her just as tight, both needing the comfort of the other as they came to the realization that they would never see the rest of their friends again. The kids in this room, they were he only ones that had survived. There was no way that the others could still be alive.
There was one simple fact that everyone in that room knew at that moment. Clarke knew it. Jasper knew it. Monty and Miller knew it. Even Thea knew it though she wished that she didn't. But it was an inevitable fact and there was no denying it. The clarity with which they knew could not be changed.
The others were dead. Bellamy was dead.
