The next day, Thea was talking to Wells when she noticed Clarke and Finn sitting side-by-side, studying the plant that had been used as a poultice for Jasper's wounds. Signaling to Wells that she was going to head over to the two, she made her way over to them.
"Whatever this stuff is, it has to have antibiotic properties," Clarke was saying.
"Let me see," Wells approached the two along with Thea as they both crouched down to get a better look at the plant, "And before you refuse my help, remember who aced Botany in Earth Skills," Wells said gesturing to himself and Thea who had also done very well in the subject.
"The Grounders used it as a poultice. I'm thinking a tea might be even more effective if we can figure out what it is," Clarke said, handing it over to Wells who studied it for a moment before handing it to the brunette girl beside him.
"I know what it is," Wells stated, looking towards the girl beside him who nodded.
"Seaweed," she announced. "Look, no root structure."
"Right. Well, then there must be a water source nearby," Clarke concluded.
Wells nodded, "Yeah, it would have to have a slow current, lots of rocks."
"The water would probably be more red than green," Thea finished for him.
Finn nodded, standing up, "I know just the place."
"All right. Let's go," Clarke followed Finn's lead, standing up and making her way back to camp to collect supplies for the trip.
"Hey. We know what this stuff looks like," Wells intervened, gesturing to himself and Thea, "Do you?"
Clarke sighed unhappily but nodded, letting the two know that they could come. Thea didn't particularly care if she went or not, but she knew that Wells was hoping she would come so he wouldn't be alone with his former best friend and the boy who seemed to take a little too much interest in her.
Twenty minutes later, the group set out. They trudged through the woods in silence until Wells decided to try to get Clarke to speak to him.
"You know, you should, uh, really rethink this whole hating me thing. It's not just the Grounders, we're surrounded by criminals. We need each other. We're gonna be friends again," Wells stated and Thea sighed, tired of the feud that was going on between the two.
"You got my dad killed. Not possible," Clarke replied, not stopping to look back at the boy.
"This is Earth, Clarke," Wells spoke as he trudged up the hill after the girl, "Anything's possible."
"I'd let it go," Finn muttered to the boy, passing him as he walked faster to catch up with the blonde.
"Yeah. Well, I've known Clarke her whole life, better than you ever will, so, I'll decide when to let it go."
"Yeah, I can tell you guys are close," Finn replied sarcastically.
A moment later, Thea's foot hit something that made a loud noise and she froze. Finn came up beside her, gently pushing her to the side so he could see what she had hit. The rest of the group watched as he started to uncover the object.
"What is it?" Clarke asked, having stopped ahead of the group.
Finn didn't answer for a moment while he continued to dig, before he reached down and pulled open what looked like a door.
He laughed, looking down at what he had found in excitement.
"It's an automobile," Wells exclaimed in wonder as he bent over to look at it more closely.
