Amanda's POV
I came to school today feeling happy. I had just seen my old friend who was extremely close to me, but somehow we drifted apart over the years. Like I said, the reason for every bad cause in my world is Luke Hemmings.
When I'd gotten to class, I realized that the teacher wasn't here. That was strange, considering Mr Kings is never late to class. I walk myself over to the middle section of all the tables and chairs and sat myself down. I didn't want to be seated down the back, because that's where all the 'rebellious and dangerous druggies' hung around, and the front row wasn't an option either, unless you'd like to be nicknamed a teacher's pet.
I waited for about 7 minutes when I finally felt the boredom take over me, and I decided to read my textbook. What was taking Mr King so long?
Out of the blue, and interrupting my thoughts, someone tapped me on the shoulder. I tensed immediately, not used to the contact. After everything that has happened, I'm always cautious and prepared, just in case someone decides to get close with me.
I slowly looked up, and I saw the unexpected.
A pretty girl with brown hair, sort of like mine, but hers is much more beautiful. Her eyes were a darker shade of brown, not like shit brown, but like a hazelnut brown. I haven't seen a girl as attractive as her in quite a while.
"Can I sit here?" The girl asked me with a small smile playing on her lips as she nodded to the seat beside me. I nodded and continued to study with my notes and books. I heard her cough and glanced at her. She was about to speak.
"So what's your name? You're new right? Because I haven't seen you around." She licked her lower lip nervously, as if she was scared that I'd start being a bitch to her as soon as I opened my mouth. This girl seemed nice, so I opened my mouth and answered.
"I'm Amanda, and yes I'm new. What's your name?" It felt like introductions made in kindergarten all over again.
"My name's Taylah, but no one really calls me Tay, so I'd prefer it if you keep it at Taylah." Taylah smiled a genuine smile, and a part of me warmed up to her more.
"Our teacher's pretty late huh?" Taylah checked her watch and said to me.
"Yeah, but that's sort of good I guess. Humanities isn't my favourite subject." I answered shrugging.
"School isn't my favourite subject." She sighed and flicked her pencil case with one slender finger.
"Is school a subject?" I asked, laughing a bit.
"Well, yeah. If you want it to be." She laughed along.
This girl seemed like a nice person to get to know, but I didn't know if I wanted a new friend or not.
"Do you live close to the campus?" Taylah pokes my arm to get my attention then asked.
"Yeah I do, why?"
"We should have a girls night in! It's Friday after all, and I haven't had one of those since my best friend left this school." She suddenly looked bummed and I instantly felt sorry for her. I knew what it was like to lose a best friend.
I didn't know what I was in for, because I've never ever had a Girls Night In before.. What even is that? But before I could even think about it more, I found myself agreeing to Taylah's idea of fun.
Luke's POV
There was music coming from the door opposite to mine.
Why the heck would Amanda be playing loud, pop songs about girl power at 10pm?
I thought for a few moments about whether if I should walk in and see what's happening or stay here and eat the cookies I baked after school by myself. I mentally debated over both the ideas until Michael came out of the shower with only a towel around his lower region. I watched as his eyes widened at the round chocolate chip cookies on the table. I didn't want Michael to finish them all, because I knew he would. I chuckled to myself and grabbed the tray of cookies before Michael reached for them, and speed walked out the door to Amanda's room. Just before I closed our room door, I heard Michael winge, I laughed while shaking my head as I knocked on Manda's door.
----
A few seconds later, a bubbly and cute looking girl came to the door. I knew she attended my school, I just forgot her name. Her pupils dilated as she looked at me, then at the cookies in my hand. "Uh hey, it's Tyra, right?" I guessed, but as soon as I said it, I knew it was wrong. She was still staring at me with her mouth open, "N-no, it's Taylah. Um, wanna come in?" Taylah invited me in and closed the door behind her.
So this is what all the music and loud stomping was about. A sleepover.
"Hey Taylah, who's there?" I heard Amanda's crisp voice coming from the kitchen.
"Um, it's Luke, Mandy."
Amanda suddenly stumbles out the door in a big step and comes to where we were.
"Luke. What are you doing here?" Amanda glares at me through her big blue eyes, and honestly I was melting even though she wasn't touching me.
"I b-brought some cookies."
