Luke's POV
"Luke Hemmings. Are you still with us?" My English teacher -Ms Matthews - snaps her fingers in my face to get my attention. I didn't even realize I was daydreaming until she pointed it out. I nodded and looked up at her with the slightest bit of interest, and she finally walked back up to her desk.
"As I was saying, today you'll be pairing up with someone in this class, and you will be required to write a biography about that person. I'll be choosing your partners so please stop looking around the room." Ms Matthews takes out a hat with pieces of paper that has names on them. "You will be drawing a name out of this hat and that will be your partner for this project."
She came around to all of our tables and pulls the hat in front of us, making us draw paper out.
A pretty brunette named Kathy kept glancing at me, I couldn't tell what she was saying with those bright pink lips of hers but it looked something like 'Hope I partner up with you.' She shot me a wink and I rolled my eyes, what was happening to me? Usually I'd be all over her like flies, what was so different about today?
Finally the hat came to me and I quickly drew a name out, hoping it'd be one of the smart kids in our class, so I wouldn't have to do much of the work. As I opened my piece of paper, I felt Kathy's gaze focused on me, probably to see if I got her or not. I sighed and looked down at the little slip with writing on it. It was written perfectly in cursive writing:
Amanda Brookes
Oh.
I didn't know what i was feeling but i knew that Amanda wouldn't be impressed. Where was Amanda anyways? I never even knew she was in this class. That's weird. It's not like Amanda to skip school for no reason. I folded the paper and slipped it in my pocket.
And with one sad look from Kathy about not being my partner, I gathered my things and decided to find Amanda at lunch.
