Luke's POV
Amanda and I met up again, in my room, to continue on where we left off last time.
No, not the bit where we were about to kiss unfortunately, but that part where I had to ask her boring questions and then take notes.
The more I looked at Amanda, the more reasons I had for wanting her back. I hope what I was about to do is worth the risk, and I won't regret it afterwards.
"I was thinking, Manda. Since we're friends and all now... maybe we could go out somewhere? Like just as friends, and nothing more. B-because, you're really good to hang out with and we haven't talked in a while and I just-" I didn't stop to take a breath as I managed to speed talk to Amanda, but she interrupted me.
"Okay." She said, looking straight at me with those crystal blue eyes.
"Oh," I felt a smile tugging at the corner of my lips. I didn't expect her to say yes, but now that she did, I was more than thrilled, "Alright then, I guess I'll see you tomorrow morning. I'll come to your room with my push bike so be prepared."
She giggled and covered her mouth, she always did that and I didn't understand why. Why would you hide such a beautiful smile?
"Luke. You do realise that your room is like literally 2 meters away from mine?" She licked her lower lips and kept laughing. She's so fucking adorable.
"I know, but what's a date without a fancy vehicle?" I smirked, "I'll pick you up at your room at 10am sharp."
She shook her head and muttered something under her breath like you're crazy.
"Okay, whatever you say Lukey. Are we going to a place filled with people? Because I have a bad case of social an-," Then she stopped mid sentence and changed her words completely,
"Remember that it'd not a date Luke, just two friends hanging out." She smiled.
"Whatever you say Manda." I chuckled, but couldn't but wonder what she meant before she stopped herself.
--------
"Hello."
Amanda stood in front of me, looking beautiful, as per usual.
On her was a pair of tightly fitted dark denim jeans, and she wore a shirt that had the word Coldplay on it. I remembered how she used to tell me all her favourite songs by Coldplay, because she is obsessed with them.
"Ready to go?" I asked as I fixed my beanie.
"Yeah." She breathed in and out nervously and bit her lips, "Here."
She reached out and fixed my beanie for me, so it was in place.
"There, p-perfect." She blushed and looked away.
And the little spark of hope ignited again in my chest.
------
We raced each other to the playground when we had gotten off my jeep. I took Amanda to this wonderful park filled with daisies, and a little playground in it.
"It's still as lovely as it was when I was 4." I sighed, admiring my surroundings.
"Yeah," Amanda was breathless, "I love it here. So peaceful."
I grabbed her hand, and she tensed under my touch again, but I still dragged her along with me until we reached a gigantic tree that had leaves as golden as Mandy's heart.
"And this, is where I always come to, to relax and get my mind off things." I released her hand and touched the fragile, old tree that was still standing strong.
"It's beautiful," She was walking around the tree and walking in between the large roots of the tree.
"How did you find this place?" Amanda took a seat next to me on the ground.
"Dunno. It was just here."
"Mmm.." She replied, already spacing out.
"Hold on, I have something for us." With that, I ran back to the jeep to find my suprise.
------
"Tada!" I shouted to Amanda when I was a few meters away from her, and she looked up in curiousity.
"Oh my God, Luke! You didn't have to-" She frowned and started to talk, but I closed my hand over her mouth and made her quiet. "I wanted to , sweetie." I reassured her that I was a great chef and cooking was a piece of cake for me, and after a few minutes of debating, she finally sat down to enjoy the picnic I'd made at 4am this morning for the both of us.
"Apple crumble pie? Luke, that's my favourite!" Her eyes crinkled up and she smiled the biggest smile and took a bite of of her pie, "Mmm.. so good.." Her voice trailed off as she finished the rest of her pie. I wasn't hungry, I felt myself smiling as I watched her eat. Everything about her was just so great.
"What's this?" Amanda suddenly turns around and looks at a familar carving on the tree.
"L+A?" She ran her little fingers across the letters that were in a love heart and her eyes softened.
"D-Did you carve this? Is it what I think it is?" She whispered softly, looking into my eyes, and my soul,
"Yeah, I did. When I was crazy in love with you." I answered truthfully.
"Oh, so you're not anymore..?" She kept looking at the carvings and no matter how many times I tried to hold her gaze she wouldn't look at me at all.
"I-I.." I didn't know how to respond. I was scared that if I told her I still loved her, she'd run away from me again.
"Okay. I understand. I should probably get back, I have a lot of homework to catch up on." Amanda's voice felt so far away, and if she'd just turn her damn eyes towards me, maybe I'd know what's on her mind.
I didn't do anything else, I simply just nodded and we walked back to the jeep silently.
The car ride back home was quiet too, by the way Amanda was staring out her window and wrapping her arms around herself, I knew she was either mad, upset or anxious.
Was it something I did?
She couldn't be upset about the fact that I didn't answer her question properly, could she?
