Ruby's POV:
"Hey, Sapphire," I greeted as I made my way down the hallway.
"Hello, Ruby," she sweetly smiled with genuine joy written on her face.
"How do you see with your hair covering one of your eyes?" I asked her attempting to get to talk to her.
"Only one of my eyes works. I'm blind in the other," she shrugged. We walked the rest of the way to the cafeteria in silence.
"Can I see your other eye?" I asked out of curiosity. She pulled her light blue bangs away from her eye. Her eye was blue like the her other eye but it looked frozen sence it was even lighter than the other and the pupil was gray. "You're pretty, I meant your eyes are pretty and so is your name and you, wait, ugh," I blurted out and got so embarrassed my face turned beat red. Sapphire just giggled and smiled her beautiful smile again.
"Thanks, Ruby," she responded looking at me, "you too." I blushed even darker. "Is that you're natural eye color?" Sapphire asked referring to my red eye color.
"Yes," I answered. Most people who have red or pink eyes have albinism. I however do not have albinism so my eyes aren't "true red" but they're pretty close.
"They look cool," she said.
"Your's look frozen," I said nonchalantly before realising what I said. "Sorry. Sorry. Sorry," I kept repeating as Sapphire just giggled to herself. We walked into the cafeteria grabbed our trays and walked to where the Rubies were ushering us to join them.
"Hello, I'm Sapphire," Sapphire said holding out her hand respectfully for them to shake.
"Ruby."
"Ruby."
"Oh so y'all are all three named 'Ruby'?" Sapphire asked the group.
"Um, yeah," I said awkwardly as we sat down. That's not weird, that might be weird, that's slightly weird, that's pretty weird, okay fine, that's really weird.
"That's so cool," she smiled. "Padparashca's middle name is Sapphire and technicaly a padparashca gem is a form of sapphire," she shrugged ,"I don't hear the name Sapphire a lot."
"It's pretty," I paused, "Awesome! It's pretty awesome. Yeah," I put my hand on the back of my neck and looked straight down at the table, hoping to lessen the awkwardness. She stayed at our table and we all got along, aside from the fact that I'm an awkward miniature red potato, it was nice.

Author's Note:
I'm so sorry about both the length if the chapter and length of the wait. At first my excuse was going to a new school with way more homework, then soccer, then musical rehearsal, and now I need to go back over a few miner chapters to get back to understanding the details of this story. I've decided to try to update once every week or two but I'll definitely do it at least once a month. Again, I'm so sorry.
