"Hello folks! Today is September 30, 1998 and Garrison Elementary School's race! We have here.. Ms. Lau's class! Ms. Lau's class is now presenting Kate Kogane & Veronica Le! Mr. Gonsales's class is now presenting Lance McClain & Kyra Ali!..." The guy on the microphone spoke and my teammate and I got ready at the starting line.
"We got this, Katie! We got this!" Veronica smiled and patted my back.
"Yeah!" I smiled and looked ahead.
"Us, girls got this! Girl power!" We smiled and high-fived. I felt a weird feeling. Why?
"All of the teams are up! In about 5 more minutes, it will begin." The man spoke into the microphone.
"Ew! Girls in the race? How pathetic!" A boy walked over who has purple dyed hair and blue eyes.
"How dare you, Lotor! Ugh, this is why everyone hates you." Veronica turned toward them, rolled her eyes, and crossed her arms.
"It's the truth! God, some people do have low standards." He laughed at us.
"Can you stop? No one needs a dick like you in our lives. Leave us alone, Lotor." Veronica rolled her eyes and faced me again.
"Nice one, Ronnie!" We smiled and high-fived.

  "5.. 4... 3.. 2.. 1!" The man yelled into the microphone.
I tried my best to run the fastest to the end of the field. I reached to the end where Veronica is. I handed her the stick and she ran. I turned around to see that I'm the first one to reach to this end! Wow!
After Veronica ran back to me, I took the stick back and ran. The last round! Yay! I ran my ass off. I reached to the other side and the audience started to scream. I turned around that a boy was about only a foot behind me!
"Wow! I never got beat by a girl before. Except my sisters, but they don't count." The boy rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. He has brown wavy hair, bright ocean eyes, and countless of freckles. He also have band-aids all over his legs and arms.
"..What does that mean?" I stared at him.
"Like.. girls are usually slower by boys."
"That's not true! You are mean!" I yelled and crossed my arms.
"It's true, though!" He crossed his arms and yelled at me.

"Kate! Lance! What is going on here?" Ms. Lau walked over to us, stared down at me, and crossed her arms.
"I'm saying that girls are slower than boys and that's a fact!"
"No! That's not true!" Lance and I spoke at the same time and screaming our heads off.
"Kate.. Lance.. Girls and boys aren't faster than the other OR slower than the other. It doesn't matter because at least everyone is having a fun time. Now, you two need to get your water and ribbons!" Ms. Lau vented down and explained. She took us to the booth where the waters were. The whole time, Lance and I deathstared at each other. What an asshole! Ugh, I hate him so much! Good thing that I won't be friends with him or even worse! Boyfriend and girlfriend! Ew, gross!!

"How was your nap, babe?" Lance woke me up and kissed me.
Wow.. back then, I hated Lance's guts.. Now, I'm married to him. Just.. wow.
