***Later that day***
Sung Jun got me settled down in the YMC and DreamT Entertainment dorms that were a few blocks away from the main building. I did not know who my roommate was yet, but there were two beds. The room was quite small, but spacious enough for two people, with all the essentials a room had to contain. Except for the bathrooms and showers, those were in the hallway. The beautiful view on the city made up for that little inconvenience.
I placed my suitcases in the closet, and went out of my room for a quick shower. No one was around on my floor, everyone must have been at practice or something like that. After that I got dressed, fixed my hair and did a simple, natural yet flattering makeup look before heading back to my room, where my manager would meet me.
I was going to meet my group members in a few hours. I was very nervous, but excited at the same time. Those girls would be my "friends/family" for how long we were going to be in that group together, but the fact that I was a complete stranger to them, and to the whole concept of being a Kpop idol in general, made me extremely anxious. 'Will they like me? Will we have anything in common? Do they speak English? How long have they been training?....' All that was going to be determined soon...
Sung Jun and I went back to the YMC headquarters. It was lunch time, so the halls were more crowded, with people heading out of offices, and conference and practice rooms. I got a glance of more staff members and people my age, some looking way younger. They were probably trainees, sweating and panting from their vigorous and tiring morning. They rushed to their friends and scurried out of the main door in groups for lunch.
My manager and I got in a conference room. I wasn't expecting for it to be so crowded. There were nine people sitting around a circular table: Mr. Tae was sitting at the end, four girls, two on each side of him, who were obviously my bandmates, and four other adults that I didn't know. There were two empty chairs, intended for me and Sung Jun, I supposed. The CEO once again greeted us with a huge smile and open arms.
"Eoseo oseyo (welcome), Sung Jun and ____, you're right on time," he chanted jovially, "anjeuseyo (please sit), we have a lot to discuss."
I took the seat next to one of the girls, and Sung Jun sat in the empty one beside one of them, on the opposite side. Me and the girl, who was very pretty, smiled at each other, but said nothing. I normally am a social butterfly, but was way too nervous to even say "hello". As I looked at the three other girls one after the other, I realized how dangerously drop dead gorgeous they were, despite them being bare-faced and a little sweaty, with messy ponytails and dressed in baggy shirts and droopy sweat pants. Well, R.I.P. to all my chances of becoming the visual of this group. I was definitely average looking compared to them, which got me a little intimidated.
Mr. Tae broke the silence by clapping his hands once. "So everybody, as you all may know, after searching high and low, far and wide, we have finally recruited our final member for our new girl group. Here she is, we signed the Artist Contract earlier this morning. ______-ssi, would you mind introducing yourself to your group members and to your team? Then they will introduce themselves to you after you are done. Don't worry, everyone here speaks perfect English. Go on, my child, don't be shy."
My whole body started to shake violently and my heart raced rapidly. I gulped the knot of nervousness down and took a deep breath.
