You could complain all you wanted to about life and only realise how much you want to be alive when it's the begging of the end.
"Clara!"
My eyes shot open and a lightning strike on panic whizzed through me. I felt a tight hand on my upper arm and I grabbed the wrist in fear it was Adam. I shot up straight from lying down position and my breathing was instantly heavy, like someone was pushing me down.
"It's ok. It's ok. I'm here now, Adam's gone." Shawn spoke in a gentle tone as one hand rested on my lower back and the other cupped around my neck and jaw. I looked around and saw we were in the backseat of van and Geoff was sat opposite of Shawn and i. I swallowed hard and took a deep breath in before shakily exhaling. Shawn's hand started to rub up and down my back when I felt a pain in my leg, looking down I saw a white material wrapped around my leg, with dark red blood taking over the pure colour. My breathing grew heavier again as I stared at my wound.
"Hey, don't look at that." Shawn changed his position so he was angled and more in front of me, my legs laying across his lap. "Look at me."
My eyes diverted from the blood to Shawn's soft hazel brown eyes. "Don't forget to blink." Shawn added chuckling, I blinked rapidly realising I was just staring at him and looked over at Geoff who was smiling out the window with a snigger escaping his harshly pressed lips.
"Sorry." I softly spoke and licked my dry lips taking my eyes away from Shawn's then looking back into them.
"Hey we're here." Geoff spoke just as Shawn went to say something. I looked over Shawn's shoulder and saw we were outside the hospital, before I knew it the door was sliding open revealing Shawn's body guard. Shawn moved my legs from his lap slowly and then placed them on the seat before jumping out.
I tired to get out myself but a hand was rapidly placed on top of mine making me stop.
"Let me carry you." Shawn insisted. I sat there for a moment in silence before looking down at my leg and then turning back to Shawn and nodding my head gently. Shawn's arms came under my legs and the other wrapped around my back. In one swift and quick movement I was out the car and into the cold night air. My teeth instantly started chattering and I dug my head into Shawn's chest.
"You've done this before Mendes." I said so only he could hear as my eyes closed.
"Your the second women I've carried like this in my arms." He replied and I opened my eyes revealing a smile looking down at me. "The first being my little sister." He chuckled. "Little thing cant make it past 9."
I let out a giggle in reply and shut my eyes again resting against his chest. As Shawn carried me I felt his warm breath stroke my head and his gentle heartbeat fill me ears.
The coldness was soon replaced with a waft off hospital smell and loud noises.
"I need a bed immediately and surgery room asap!" A loud women shouted coming next to Shawn and her heels clicked against the floor.
"Sir set her down here." A lower voice spoke and I felt Shawn's grip loosen, only just realising how tight it was around me. I cling onto him like a baby monkey at birth.
"I'll be with you the whole time." Shawn whispered as he set me down on the bed. The bed was cold, unlike Shawn's warm soft skin.
The wheels on the bed screeched along the floor as the doctors took me away down the empty corridor. The noise was so painful in my ears, it pierced my head as I shut my eyes tight and gripped onto the sheets of the bed.
"Get me some morphine!" The woman shouted only adding to the agony in my head.
The bed came to a stop and I felt like a racing car at a pit stop as hands started to touch every part of my body, inserting needles and adding wires to my body. It wasn't long until the strong drug sent me to sleep and I was a vulnerable little girl again.
