After grabbing a cup of coffee from a nearby Starbucks, Shawn started to drive us back to his condo.
"So what do you wanna do today?" Shawn enquired as he tapped his fingers on the steering wheel to the beat of the rhythm.
"I need to go home. I need to get some clothes." I looked over at him to meet his gaze.
"Sure. Just navigate and I'll get us there." Shawn smiled.
I did exactly that, directing us to my family home where my mom and I lived. My dad had left my mom when I was a baby and I hate him for it, although I've never met him.
"Just turn right here and it's the second house down." I pointed down a road. Shawn took the turning and pulled up outside a small house which I called my Home.
"Want me to come with?" Shawn asked.
"Erm no, I'll only be a moment." I smiled reassuringly as I pulled the flannel around my chest as the weather turned chilly. I jingled my keys in my hand and opened up the front door revealing a pile of unopened mail on the floor. I picked them up and placed them on the counter before entering my bedroom and packing some clothes and close belongings into my duffle bag. I was about twenty minutes before I returned to Shawn in his car.
"I was getting worried about you, I was about to come in." He turned slightly to me in his seat.
"Sorry, I was trying to find some stuff."
"Did you get everything?"
"Kind of." I answered.
"What do you mean kind of?"
"There's just some stuff that I need to go to the mall for during the week." I answered.
"We can go now if you'd like?"
"I don't want to trouble you with that, I'll take the bus another day." I smiled putting my seatbelt on.
"It's no trouble." He smiled and started the car, I presumed he was heading for the mall and in half an hour we were there. I only had to go to one shop, Victoria's Secret, I had recently started to outgrown my lingerie and needed some new stuff.
"Do you want to wonder?" I asked.
"No I'm good."
There was a pause between us and I think Shawn got the idea as we neared the store.
"Ah I know what you mean." Shawn laughed a little. "I don't mind, I'll just follow you round."
"Okay, sure."
We entered the store and I felt awkward at first looking at all the bras and panties in front of him but he didn't really pay close attention, I'm guessing because he didn't want to make it awkward for me.
"I'm just going to the fitting room, there's a waiting space there." I pointed as I walked down the hallway. Shawn nodded and took a seat as I went and tried on my items. They were all really nice, and on sale, I decided on a matching red lace set, push up, two bralettes, a date night bra and a couple, or dozen, pair of panties. I exited the changing room and Shawn was on his phone and smiled as he saw me come out.
"You all good?" I giggled at his reaction.
"I think the smell in here is affecting my nostrils." He made a scrunched up face and I laughed at him, playfully shoving his shoulder.
"You and me both mate." Another young boy said, obviously waiting for his girlfriend to finish. "Gotta do it for our ladies though, am I right?"
"Spot on." Shawn replied with a chuckle before looking down at me with a sparkle in his eye.
We walked to the checkout and I set all my stuff on the counter and watched as the lady scanned them one by one.
"That's £75.49 babe." She smiled.
I was about to put my card down that I had been playing with in my hands when Shawn placed his down.
"Shawn? What are you doing?" I asked picking his card up and going to put mine down.
"Paying for you." He made a goofy expression and grabbed my wrist gently placing his card back on the counter and nodding at the lady.
"That was mine to pay."
"Consider yourself lucky." The woman interrupted as she handed over my bag. "My boyfriend assumes because I get a discount he can't treat me every once in a while. How long you two been together?"
"Oh-" I started.
"Not long enough." Shawn interrupted before I could say that we weren't together and he wrapped a hand round my waist resting his hand on my hipbone.
"Your a very cute couple." She smiled and waved us goodbye.
Shawn and I walked out the store and I stopped him by standing in front of him and placing a hand on his chest as we waited for an elevator.
"Ok, what was that?" I asked.
"What?" He laughed.
"Paying? The joking?" I laughed with him to keep the conversation light.
"Why can't I treat a beautiful young girl like yourself to something?"
"This girl has already been given enough by you Shawn Mendes." I smiled. "Please don't do that again."
"It's Shawn Mendes!" We heard a girl scream and suddenly there was a stampede of people running at us.
"Holy-"
Shawn had pulled me into an elevator and the doors closed as we watched them grow nearer and nearer.
"You were saying?" Shawn laughed.
I looked at him and started laughing, having to hold my stomach from the pain. The doors opened as we reached the parking lot and we quickly got into his car and made our way back to his condo.
Today had been a really great day, I visited mom, Shawn had spoken to her and given me a place to stay and we were starting to connect.
I just hope he wants to connect the same way I do.
