"Your still avoiding."
A smile quick plastered across my face before I turned round to face Shawn. His arm remained resting across my body, his fingers lightly tracing circles on my back.
Throughout the harsh couple of hours I had been through, Shawn chose to remain with me and I don't know how I could ever thank him.
"That's better." He smiled lightly and with his hand he pushed some hairs back behind my ear before returning to my waist. "Try get some sleep." He smiled.
I closed my eyes as he circled his fingers on my skin, his fingers slipping upwards underneath my top but remaining at a comfortable place.
"Shawn." I called quietly.
"Mmm." He replied.
"Im really glad your here."
There was a pause and I replayed what I just said in my mind, was I stupid to of said that?
"Me too." He whispered.
•••
A sudden buzzing went off causing me to jump out of my slumber.
"Hey. It's ok." Shawn said reassuringly as he touched my arm, remaining laying down. I let out a deep breath and slowly sank back down into the comfort of the duvet. "Did you sleep ok?" Shawn asked.
"First time I've actually slept through a night." I smiled lightly at him making a short brief eye contact before watching my fingers play with the material of the bed covers. "Thankyou."
"For what?" Shawn chuckled.
I looked up and he searched my eyes for an answer.
"Everything." I breathed out, my eyes locking with his. "You saves me at the awards, payed for my hospital treatment and now, now your letting me stay here." I sat back up in the bed and ran a hand through my tangled hair.
"So why are you so stressed?" Shawn laughed a little sitting up next to me.
"Because." I raised my hands in the air before putting them down again. "Your Shawn Mendes and I'm just this girl who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. You shouldn't have to do this." I threw the covers off from my body and made my way to the chest of drawers, taking out a flannel shirt.
"Clara. What are you doing?" Shawn seriously questioned as he raised himself from the bed making his way to me.
"Leaving." I said whilst I pulled my brown hair into a pony tail.
"Why?"
"You've done so much." I looked up into his eyes. "Too much. I can't repay you."
"I never asked you to. Nor would I." He said putting his hands on my shoulders. "Put that on, and meet me downstairs."
"Shawn I-"
"Five minutes." He said and went out the room closing the door behind him.
I changed into the flannel shirt and found a pair of denim shorts, which must of been his sisters which I pulled on to.
•••
After releasing my hair over my shoulders I went down stairs and met Shawn, who was swinging his keys round his index finger whilst leaning on the door frame.
"Where are we going?" I asked pulling on my vans.
"Can't you be a little mysterious?" He chuckled and opened the door before jumping in his black jeep. I shook my head lightly and followed him out, meeting him once again in his car.
The whole car ride he didn't answer my curiosity of where he was taking me.
"You could be a kidnapper. You could be kidnapping me." I stated.
"Considering your already staying in my house, that would make a lot of sense." Shawn sarcastically replied glancing at me quickly as he drove.
Another few minutes and I recognised where we were, the trees, the familiar signs, the buildings, the gravestones.
"Why have you brought me here?" I quietly asked starting to feel upset. He knew how much the death of my mother upset me.
"I want to show you something." He said grabbing my hand as we slowly drove along the road to where my mom was buried. "I don't need to, I want to." He continued.
Shawn pulled the car up and I took a deep breath before getting out and waiting by my door. I just stared, I hadn't been back here since her funeral.
"Ready?" Shawn asked coming to my side. I nodded my head and he held my small cold hands in his. We walked up to her gravestone, which read: Mother to all who she loved. Will forever be missed.
Shawn dropped my hand and he squatted down in front of my mom.
"Mrs. Reynolds." Shawn began. "The way your daughter talks about you, I feel like I know you and I really wish we had the chance to meet in person."
I could feel tears start to well up behind my eyes and I squeezed them shut tight.
"I came here to tell you, that I will care and protect Clara the very best I can. She can stay at my house and want for nothing. I won't take no for an answer."
Shawn turned back round to me and I shook my head in disbelief, a hand came to my mouth and Shawn had stood up and was now holding me in his arms. He kissed my head and the way he held me, I swear I've never felt so safe.
"So." He pulled away to look at me. "Will you Stay?"
I looked into this boys eyes, a boy who I had known for a week and I already feel like I've known him my entire life. He made me feel safe like no one else has ever done before. He made me happy. Was I...was i falling for Shawn Mendes?
"I'll stay."
