I nuzzled into him and mumbled under my breath, knowing it was far too soon for me to say it.
"Hm?"
"Oh, n-nothing."
"You sure? You don't stutter often Hunter."
"It's fine baby."
"Okay," he said, seeming very unconvinced. "If you say so."
I pecked his cheek and nuzzled back in my spot in his neck. He chuckled and pulled me a little closer and we cuddled like that for a while.
Dahvie chuckled as he walked out. "You guys are too cute."
Jayy and I laughed. I sat up and kept Jayy's arm around my shoulders and rested my head on his shoulder.
"You guys ready for the show?"
"Hell yes." Dahvie and Jayy both laughed at my immediate response. "What? It's true!"
"We know," Jayy said. "It's just you're reminding us of ourselves when we started doing this."
"Exactly," Dahvie started. "At the beginning I was that pumped for every fucking show, it was great, each one got me just as excited as the last. Eventually, that faded a bit. I got pumped again when I started playing shows with Garrett because it was not just new songs now, it was another voice, another sound, another person to bounce my excitement off of and, better yet, get excited 'with'. I got that same thrill with Jayy, but he seemed to click better. Plus, he'd never done this before me so it was like watching my past self," Dahvie explained.
Jayy smiled. "I remember feeling like you are right now, excited for each and every show you do, Dahvs does to. It's kind of like looking back through you and seeing how we looked to everyone else who'd already 'done' this stuff for so long that it was just... well normal to them."
Dahvie nodded. "And, if we looked anything like she does right now, then I can see why they laughed at us because it's fucking adorable."
"Guys," I laughed. "I think 'you're' the adorable ones."
"How so?" Jayy asked, looking a little confused.
"Well I'm not the one getting all reminiscent just because the new girl on tour is excited."
Dahvie laughed. "The new girl on tour... I like that. I just may have to start calling you that."
"Hunter will work just fine."
"Maybe for you."
"Careful," Jayy warned playfully. "He'll have the whole bus callin' you it if you show that you don't like it." I whined. Jayy and Dahv laughed at me. "Aww, poor baby." Jayy kissed my cheek. "We're just playin' with you angel."
"I know," I said, blushing. "But still."

During the soundcheck, my stomach started to feel weird. "I don't feel great, mind if we take five so I can try and figure out what's up?"
"You're probably just nervous, but no problem. G'head. We're gonna keep checkin' the instruments while you're gone."
"I am an instrument," I said proudly.
"Well then maybe I'll play you tonight," The guitarist teased. 'Damn it, I've gotta find out what their names are, I feel rude not knowing.'
Jayy scoffed at him. "I'd like to see you try Aussie."
I laughed. "Now, now. I'm not a prize to be fought over. And Jayy, he's just kidding."
"I know. I just said it threateningly just to avoid the idea planting itself into his head as something serious, that's all."
"I'd give you a peck, but I feel sick and I just assume not give whatever I have to you."
"Stage fright's not contagious Hunter," Aussie said, making them all chuckle.
I laughed with them and went to the bus, grabbing my water of the edge of the stage as I left. "I'll be right out."
"No problem babe," Jayy called back.
I sat down for a second and took a sip of water. My stomach turned more, attempting rejection of the plain liquid, and I pulled feet onto the couch and rested with my head between my knees until the nausea subsided.
I sighed and went into my backpack and got out a peppermint, then washed out my bottle with hot water just in case, refilled it, and went back to the stage.
I listened to them soundcheck until my mint melted, then stood up.
"Better?" Dahvie asked.
"Not really, but I'm dealing. I've got a pocket full of mints to chill the nausea."
"Ouch, that doesn't sound like stage fright... Maybe you should sit this one out," he suggested.
"Nah, I'll be fine."
"Y'Sure?" Aussie asked.
"Enough," I replied, shrugging.
"Honey," Jayy said finally. "If you feel sick then please just take a night to chill."
"I can chill after the show Jayy. C'mon, if I feel too bad I'll finish whatever song and then I'll tell you and go relax, I promise."
"Well I'm not gonna tell her no if she says she's okay," Dahvie said. Jayy gave him a pleading look. "I'm sorry, I can't help ya man."
Jayy sighed and looked defeated. "Okay... You guys win. But, if anything happens to her, I'm gonna be pissed."
"No, you're gonna be worried to shit. But either way, let's just get this soundcheck done, kay?" Dahv asked.
Jayy nodded and I tried to get onto the stage and whimpered. "Fucking shoulder-blades." I sighed and went around the back.
Jayy met me where the stairs and the stage connected. He pulled me into his arms and kissed in my hair.
"Hmm? Oh hey baby. What's wrong?"
"You're scarin' me babe, ya know that?" he asked, chuckling heartlessly.
"I'm fine, just a little muscle ache is all."
He sighed. "Sounds like you're gettin' the flu."
"Oh well." I shrugged. "I'll live."
"Those are the words of someone who never had the flu."
"No I haven't, but still. It can't be 'that' bad."
He laughed. "Yeah, y'say that now."
