Ugh. When can I go home?
"Jungkook stack the books! Jungkook organize it properly!" Jungkook this, Jungkook that! I'm so damn tired. I would've been playing games instead of working at this boring dump.
My parents forced me to find a job to earn some money instead of asking them for money. They threatened to kick me out, but I refused. When I came back home one day, I was greeted with all of my stuff outside our house. That was when I had to find a job. My precious computer was almost ruined because of the rain, and I couldn't afford another one.
I tried looking everywhere for a job, but apparently, sitting on your ass all day while playing overwatch isn't qualified. Damn me and my lazy ass.
After roaming around town, I finally got a job at the local library. It wasn't my style, but I had no choice. Either a library or a a business with a sketchy, coke-sniffing boss: which is better? Despite receiving a minimum wage salary at the library, I was still getting paid and that's all that matters.
So here I am, bored out of my mind at the front desk of the library. Everyday, I watch people come and go. Some girls in uniforms were even eyeing me whenever they check out a book. Ugh. Jailbait much? I just wanted to leave.
Until one day, a girl wearing an oversized trench coat, with a red scarf walks through the door. The sound of her worn-out, combat boots, echoed throughout the library. Her messy, black hair covered her pale face. She was my type, but I prefer someone who dresses well and not wear clothes you can find in the dumpster.
I decided to stay for a while. Not because of that girl, but for the money.
Red scarf appeared, and made her way to a table near the exit. She was holding this book that looked like it could hurt someone. Damn, how can people read shit like that? I can barely read a paragraph without feeling sleepy.
After half an hour, red scarf pulled up her sleeve to look at her watch. Once she did, she immediately closed her book, and returned it to the shelf. Why couldn't she just check it out?
As she made her way out the door, our eyes met, and for a second I felt my heart burst out of my chest. She had really pretty, brown eyes. I stood there in awe as she walked out the door.
What the fuck was that?
~~~~~This has been going on every three days for the past two weeks. Not that I'm counting. Red scarf comes in, reads the same book, puts it back, and leaves. I'm still wondering why she can't just check it out.
I stood behind the front desk, anticipating for red scarf to come through that door. I'm thinking of introducing myself to her, and asking for her name instead of calling her "red scarf" all the time.
I turned my head at the sound of the door opening, and I see red scarf in her oversized trench and combat boots. Same old, same old.
She grabbed her book along with two other books, and sat back down. While I was fiddling with my thumbs, trying to find the right time to talk to her. I breathed in deeply, and exhaled. It's time.
I slowly walked towards red scarf, hoping that I don't mess up. "Hey. I noticed that you really like that book."
Frightened, red scarf looked up at me, and held her hand to her heart, trying to calm herself down. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you," I stuttered.
"It's alright," she chuckled. "I was just really into the book that I forgot the world around me for a little bit."
I grinned at her cuteness. I gestured if I could sit down, and she nodded. "Oh, I'm Jungkook by the way. I work here," I said coolly.
"I'm Y/N. Nice to meet you," red sca- I mean, Y/N said with a smile. "And to answer your question, it's my favorite book. This is the only library that has this book."
"If you really like the book, can't you buy your own copy though?" I questioned. Y/N's face fell for a second, but then she caught herself.
"I can't afford one."
Aaaand I fucked up.
~~~~~~That conversation went well. Not.
I did apologize for my words, but she excused it then we both talked the day away. From school to our favorite color, I feel like I learned more about her. Is it wrong to say that I'm in love with Y/N? God, I'm so cheesy. What the hell is wrong with me?
But ever since our last conversation, she stopped coming to the library, and I was getting a bit worried. I admit, I miss seeing Y/N and that red scarf of hers. It's Christmas day. I should feel happy, but Y/N's not here to make me happy.
I'm a little pissed that they opened the library on Christmas, but it's a chance to see Y/N again.
Bored, I tapped on the desk with my pen as I sat there. A sigh escaped my mouth as I turned my eyes to the front door. Still no Y/N.
As I walked around, I checked if everything was in it's place, and organized the books. I'll probably just close up early. I was stacking books when I heard the front door open. "We're closed!" I yelled from here.
"Awe, really? But your sign says open though," a familiar voice complained. Shit. I dropped the books I was holding onto the table next to me, and ran towards the voice. I slowed down so she won't think I'm a dork.
"Y/N," I breathed out. She giggled at my dorkiness. Damn. "Here to read your favorite book again?" I smirked.
"Oh Jungkook, you know me so well," Y/N joked, and made her way to where her book was. I sat down on the table where she usually sits, and waited for her. A smile was itching to show on my face as I waited.
The pitter patter of her boots hitting the ground, echoed throughout the library. I could hear her come nearer, and nearer until she was finally in front of me.
Y/N was holding a present, wrapped in red wrapping paper which resembled her red scarf. I look up at her confused face. "You did not," she said.
"Oh, I did," I smirked as I stood up. Y/N looked down at the present, and back at me again. But this time she had tears in her eyes.
"Merry Christmas, Y/N."
