Sunlight peeked through the thin curtains which awoke the sleeping, young man on his bed. He stretched his limbs, and yawned whilst rubbing his eyes.
"Another day of hard work. Lets get it."
Jimin exited his apartment hurriedly after having a light breakfast and a quick shower. He hailed a cab after bumping into a few people on the way.
"Juilliard, please," he said to the driver. Jimin breathed out a sigh of relief as he sank down into his seat, tired from running.
Once he arrived at the school, Jimin walked through the doors and immediately made his way to class. Roaming through the halls made him reminisce about the past. He could still feel the excitement he felt when he was freshman. After all of the blood, sweat, and tears during his high school years, it all paid off when he received an acceptance letter to his dream school. It was unbelievable.
Flashbacks of the day he cried with his parents when he read the acceptance letter, flooded his mind. Nights of practicing and studying, and lack of sleep reminded him of how he got here today.
After greeting his fellow classmates with a big smile and putting his things away, Jimin went to one side of the dance studio and started to warm up. As soon as the teacher walked in, everyone stood up and rushed to their positions as the teacher doesn't like wasting time, especially with a recital on the way.
One of the teachers wanted to try something different for the recital. Dancing to one of Queen's best hits was a part of the change. The idea was skeptical to the board, but the students said otherwise.
Jimin danced to the beat, interpreting the lyrics with the smooth, graceful movements of his body. He lost himself in the music.
This recital was important to everyone, especially to Jimin since it's like their finals, which meant late hours in the studio and sore muscles the next day. When rehearsal was over, Jimin decided to stay back, and polish his routine.
Being a dance major was tough. Learning for five days a week, perfecting moves, and balancing life whilst attending a school like Juilliard was incredible, but extremely demanding.
Jimin's body grew tired after dancing for an additional two hours, which made him decide that it was time to pack up and go home. As soon as he entered his apartment, he collapsed on the sofa, and breathed heavily, with sweat running down his face. He closed his eyes, wanting to cool down for a couple of minutes until he heard something scratching the window near the fire escape.
Jimin sluggishly stood up, and dragged himself towards the noise and opened the window revealing a familiar calico cat, which was licking its paw.
"I'm guessing you want some food. Don't ya, Min-min?"
The cat meowed in response and rubbed against Jimin's hand. He chuckled and sauntered over to the kitchen to find the food he bought for Minmin. The cat began eating as Jimin laid out the food.
"You're lucky I remembered to buy some cat food unlike last time," Jimin murmured to himself, whilst caressing the cat. A small smile appeared on his face when he remembered the first time he found Minmin.
Rain shot down from the sky like a million bullets, and thunder beat like a bass drum. With sloshy footsteps and muttered curses, Jimin who was soaking wet, fumbled into his apartment.
"Why did it have to rain right when I left school? Highlight of this shitty week."
Irritated, Jimin slid off his wet clothes, and took a hot shower. When he exited the bathroom, all that he could hear was the rain. Oddly, he heard wailing from outside his window. A drenched calico cat sat near the window, trying to shield itself from the rain.
