"Here you go sweetie. Looks brand new again, right?" I said to the five year old in front of me. I gave her a bright smile, and she gave one back as I handed her the doll. Her doll was missing an arm, and her hair was messed up so I fixed it for her. "Thank you so much mister!" The child beamed with excitement as she ran back to her parents.
Phew. Now that that's over, I can take my break. Being a toy fixer ain't easy.
Before I could take one step, I feel someone tugging on the hem of my shirt. I turn around to see a young boy, probably around six, holding up a transformer that looked like it didn't work.
"Mister, can you please fix it? I think I broke it," he looked at his toy then back up at me with his puppy dog eyes. I couldn't resist it so I agreed to fix it.
"Doyoung! I've been looking everywhere for you! I am so sorry if my little brother disturbed you," the boy who looked around my age, apologized guardedly.
"No, it's alright. Doyoung here just wanted to get his toy fixed."
"I don't have any mo-"
"It's on me. Don't worry." I told the boy my age as I grabbed Doyoung's toy, and worked my magic. He stood there with a stunned look on his face, while Doyoung had a smile on his. "See Y/N-hyung I told you he could fix it!"
I chuckled at the little one's words. After a few minutes, the transformer was finally fixed. I gave it back to Doyoung who had the biggest smile like the Cheshire cat. "Thank you so much sir!" The little boy squealed as ran up to me and hugged me with his little arms. My heart, I can't.
I hugged him back, and sent him off to his brother who looked a little worried. Y/N came up to me, and gave me his number. "Thank you for doing that. I do owe you one so, call me when you need anything. I'm-"
"Y/N. Yeah, I heard your little brother," I chuckled.
"Right," he smiled. "Well, we better get going now. Thanks again?" He paused, gesturing for me to say my name.
"Taehyung," I replied.
"Taehyung," he repeated, and left with Doyoung who waved at me.
Y/N. Hmm. He looked pretty cute I guess. I stared at the piece of paper containing his number in my hands, and shoved it into my pocket. I'd better save it. Who knows when I'll need it.
~~~~~~It started out with a few texts and calls here and there. The pictures he would send me of him and Doyoung together were too adorable. All the videos he sent of him dancing crazily in public really were something. I would always have a good laugh at them. Then there came a night where we had chatted with each other late at night, except this time it was in person.
He and I would blabber on about our futures, our deepest fears, and hopes in the near future while sipping from a cup of coffee. The look in Y/N's face was priceless when I told him my dreams when I was a kid.
"Wait... So you mean to tell me that if you did not work as a toy fixer, you would have been a strawberry farmer?" He says flabbergasted.
I chuckled at his expression and nodded. "That's right."
"Wow that's... Something." Y/N bursts out laughing, and I did the same.
"I was a kid! Don't judge me!" I hit his shoulder playfully.
The fact that I finally found someone who I could have as a friend excited me. But things turned out the way I didn't expected it to. I wanted us to be more than just friends.
The laughter died down, and we sat there in silence. Y/N was about to leave, but I stopped him by grabbing his hand. I think it's time to tell him how I feel. No more hesitation.
